Nora called her mom to share her story with Kai
Nora: (on the phone) "Salam, Mama. How are you?"
Mom: "Wa Alaikum Assalam, habibti. I'm good. What's on your mind?"
Nora: "I need to talk to you about something important. Can we video call?"
Mom: "Of course, dear."
Nora initiates the video call, and her mom's face appears on the screen.
Nora: (nervously) "Mama, there's someone I want you to meet. His name is Kai, and we've been spending a lot of time together."
Mom: (curious) "Kai? Is he a friend?"
Nora: "More than that, Mama. He's my boyfriend."
Her mom's expression changes to a mix of surprise and concern.
Mom: "A boyfriend? Habibti, you know our values. Is he Muslim?"
Nora: "No, Mama, he's not. But he's a wonderful person. I shared a kiss with him, and I've never felt this way before."
Mom: (annoyed) "A kiss? Nora, this is not how we raised you."
Nora takes a deep breath, preparing to explain her feelings.
Nora: "Mama, he's special. If he truly loves me, I want to introduce him to our culture and religion. I believe he'll understand and embrace it."
Mom: "Convert him to Islam? That's not easy, habibti."
Nora: "I'm willing to try, Mama. I want you to meet him and the people in my life. They've become like family to me."
Her mom's expression softens as she considers Nora's words.
Mom: (softening) "Family?"
Nora: "Yes, Mama. Exo members, Kai's friends, they all care about me. You'll see when they come to Morocco."
Her mom thinks for a moment.
Mom: "They're coming to Morocco?"
Nora: "Yes, Mama. Kai wants to meet you, and I want you to meet him and my friends. Please say you'll come."
Her mom's expression softens as she considers Nora's words.
Mom: "If they're important to you, habibti, then I'll come. But we need to talk more about this."
Nora: "I appreciate this, Mama. Kai has been so understanding, and he genuinely cares about me. I want you to see the person he is beyond our differences."
Mom: "Habibti, I want you to be happy, but this is a big step. How can you be sure he'll accept our ways?"
Nora: "He's open-minded, Mama. We've had long conversations about our beliefs and traditions. He's willing to learn and respect our values. I believe in him."
Mom: "And what about his family? Will they accept you?"
Nora: "I haven't met them yet, but Kai has assured me that he'll handle things on his end. We're taking it step by step."
Mom: "It's not just about you, Nora. Our community can be judgmental. Are you ready for that?"
Nora: "I know, Mama. But I can't let fear dictate my choices. I want you to meet him, to see the goodness in his heart. I'm willing to face the challenges together."
Mom: "We'll talk more when you come. I want to understand his intentions and make sure you're not rushing into anything."
Nora: "Thank you, Mama. I'll make sure you're comfortable with everything. And who knows, maybe you'll see what I see in Kai."
Mom: "I hope so, habibti. Take care of yourself."
Nora: "I will, Mama. I love you."
Mom: "I love you too, Nora. Assalamu Alaikum."
Nora: "Wa Alaikum Assalam, Mama."
Nora ends the call, feeling a mix of apprehension and determination as she plans for Kai and Exo's visit to Morocco.
