Grover was right, Cassandra hadn't believed his explanation. He insisted that she was a demigod also known as a half-blood, the offspring of a Greek god and her mortal mother. But to Cassandra, it sounded like nothing more than fanciful stories.
Also, apparently , Percy was a demigod too.

"So, you expect me to believe that I've been seeing things since second grade because my absent father is a Greek God?" Cassandra questioned, her disbelief evident."Seems like a bunch of nonsense to me."

"Cass, I know it's hard to believe, but it's the truth," Grover pressed on.

With an eye roll, Cassandra dismissed the conversation. They trudged through the rainstorm in search of Percy and his mother's cabin. Cassandra drummed her fingers on her leg, attempting to distract herself from the fact that she was likely getting kidnapped by her once best friend.

The girl felt a pang of guilt for snapping at Grover earlier; she was simply overwhelmed with confusion and anger. Reflecting on the morning's events, she recalled Mrs. Dodds in her monstrous form referring to her and Percy as half-bloods, but it still didn't quite add up. It just feels like something her Mom would have told her, even if five-year-old Cassandra hadn't fully grasped it then. Perhaps her mother had been subtly trying to convey her unusual heritage through the Greek mythology stories she told.

"We should be getting close to Percy's cabin," Grover announced, seemingly frantic.

"I don't care where we actually end up being as long as I can get out of this rain," Cassandra groaned, drenched from head to toe.

The remaining ten minutes of their journey to the Jacksons' cabin felt interminable. Grover pounded on the door with urgency, trying to attract someone's attention. Cassandra stood behind him, shivering in the cold rain, unnoticed.

Sally Jackson opened the door and exchanged words with Grover as if they were acquainted, oblivious to Cassandra's presence behind him.

"What is he doing here?" Percy questioned, not spotting Cass. "I don't want to see him. Wait, Mom!"

Cass let out a sigh of relief upon hearing Percy's voice, confirming Grover wasn't lying about going to find him. "I don't blame you for not wanting to see him, but I hope you don't mind seeing me," she said stepping out from behind Grover with a smile.

"Andi?" Percy's voice softened, filled with a mixture of emotions, relieved to see her safe, at least from the children's home.
