Race night finally came. Mae couldn't be more excited, she loved these nights, maybe because with all the adrenaline her problems just disappeared. Going really fast through the streets of LA in her beloved navy blue 1997 mazda rx-7 was all she needed. Mae just loved the adrenaline, the idea of her doing the wrong move with the steering wheel and possibly dying scared her, but she still loved it.

"He's just-" Mae and Letty sat in Mae's room, talking, gossiping and picking the outfits for the race. Ever since Mae saw Brian, she talked about nothing but his ocean blue eyes, blond curly hair and how much he's her type.
"You saw him once, chill out" Letty cut her off. She was sick of the name. Every time she heard it, she felt even worse. Logically, Letty wanted the best for her best friend, because Mae deserved it. She thought Brian wasn't good for her, no matter how much he was her type.

"True, I should stop talking about him, I'll probably never see him again after Vince almost killed him" Mae sighed. Instead of thinking about the boy who completely messed her head, she went to her closet and started rummaging there frantically.
"Do you think this will match these shorts? Mae pulled out a black top, holding the top in one hand and khaki green shorts in the other.
"It's perfect" Letty replied, looking at her beautiful best friend. She realised how much she loved this girl. Letty was lucky to have Mae in her life, just like Mae was lucky to have Letty.

The two girls went downstairs where they saw Mia and Dom talking about something, they were probably talking about something important.
"You two aren't going?" Mae asked her siblings, because Dom looked like he wasn't getting ready for any race.
"Imma not racing, i'll give you a chance to win tonight" Dom smiled at his own joke. Funny thing was, it didn't matter how much these two siblings loved each other, when it came to racing, they were pure enemies.
"You're the only one who needs chances" Mae said with sarcastic voice, as her brother rolled his eyes.
"And I'm not going today" her sister said. Mia wasn't really into racing as her siblings were. Of course she loved cars. Cars were literally Toretto's happiness, but she was scared of racing, and had really big respect for speed.
"See you there then" Letty and Mae said. They left the house, they got into Mae's car.

"What if Brian will be there?" Mae started getting nervous. She remembered how he read a catalogue about Eclipses when they met for the first time.
"I bet he can't even drive" Letty said, kinda annoyed of hearing this name again. They arrived at the place. There were so many cars and more people. The atmosphere was insane, many of the guys tried to attract Mae's attention, she found it kinda disgusting, but Mae loved the attention she got for her driving skills. She knew she was one of the best drivers.

Meanwhile, Brian was already at the place, talking to his new friend, Hector. They talked about cars, and also about Dom, wondering why he wasn't here.
"Shiit, Maevie's here" Hector spotted Mae in crowd. He looked away from Brian, and pointed at the girl in the chaos of the crowd.
"Maeve? Maeve Toretto?" Brian got confused, also very surprised. He thought she was the type of girl who was more into make up and more girly things, not street racing.
"She'll race?" Brian asked, this got him fully convinced he wants to race too. Obliviously, he wanted to get Mae's attention, he thought maybe after this she'll give him a chance.
"Man, she's the best in this business" Hector laughed at his stupid question. Mae didn't miss even one race.

"Letty, he's here" Mae took a deep breath, she tapped Letty on the shoulder and pointed at Brian, luckily he didn't notice her doing that. Mae also noticed his car, green Mitsubishi Ecplise, the exact one he talked about in the Toretto's shop.
"Where the fuck he got that car?" Letty was surprised as much Mae was.

"Stop looking at her like that, she's totally of the the limits bro" Hector pointed out. Brian couldn't get his eyes from Mae.
"Btw you should go, the race starts in minutes" Hector said.

Dom finally arrived, he was the center of the crowd, explaining the rules when He wasn't even racing tonight.
"One race, two G's each. Winner takes it all" Dom explained, while looking at Mae. She definitely had this race in pocket.
"Hey wait!" Brian yelled, pushing himself through the crowd trying to get to Dom.
"I don't have any cash, but i have keys to my car" he said. Brian took the keys out of his pocket, confirming he wasn't lying.
"Easy, if I lose, winner takes my car clear and clean. But if I win, I take the cash and I take the respect" As he said that, everyone was about to laugh, Mae smiled a little bit. Idiot, she thought.
"Respect? It looks like you'll have another car, Mae" Dom laughed. True, Mae has won so many cars before. It almost felt like it was some kind of routine for her.
"For some people it's more important" Brian smiled, looking at Mae.

The four cars lined up. Brian's mitsubishi and Mae's mazda stopped next to each other.
"Such a nice car by the way" Mae looked at Brian, they both smiled.
"Thanks, yours too" Brian admired the car, but the thing he admired more, was Mae.
Hector stood between two cars in the middle, checking if everyone were ready.
It was completely silent here, you could feel the nervousity going through everyone's veins. Brian felt kinda scared, at the end, it was his first race.
Everyone sped off, as "Go" said. Not very surprisingly, Mae was in the lead. Brian tried to catch up with her, he thought how the fuck had gotten into this, it was almost clear to him that he had no chance of winning. But honestly, he didn't mind if Mae won his car.

In a rush of adrenaline, Brian pressed the red button above his steering wheel, instantly accelerating, even ahead of Mae. People went surprised immediately.
She didn't do anything about it, she just smiled.
"Too soon, prettyboy," she smirked, as she pressed the same red button.
She was the first to receive to the finish line. She won, as always.

Mae got out of the car, people celebrated. She reached Letty and Dom and hugged them.
"I had no doubts you would win this race" Dom smiled in the hug. He was proud of his little sister. He saw himself in her.
"I guess you won another car!" Letty laughed.
Brian went closer to Mae with very wide smile on his face. What was that funny about his lost race? Him loosing his car? Definitely not.
"What are you smiling about?" Mae raised her eyebrow at the tall blonde boy.

"I almost had you!" He said as he started laughing.
"You almost had me?" A little laugh escaped from Mae's lips. She found it funny, as also everyone around her did.
"Maybe next time, prettyboy" She punched Brian into the shoulder. With the word 'prettyboy' she could feel Dom's angry look at her. Brian's heart started beat faster as she said that. He felt more adrenaline than when he was racing.
"Did she really call me prettyboy?" The word ran through Brian's head, smiling at his own thought.

"Shit, we got cops! cops!" Leon ran out of his car, when he saw the police cars on the scanner.
