'Fuck, my head hurts. What the hell happened last night.' I struggled to open my eyes as I sat up in the bed, desperately trying to rid the sleep from my eyes. As I finally got them open, I remembered that I was in a hotel room, and that there was a man sleeping in the chair across from me. 'Who the hell is he?' It took me a few minutes before recalling who Leon was, noticing that it was somewhat dark outside I grabbed my phone off of the nightstand next to me. And that's when I had the "Oh Fuck Moment".
"It's fucking 6pm I just overslept by the entire day. Oh fuck, I'm so screwed." Grabbing the nearest pillow, I threw it at Leon's face to wake him up.
"What the hell?" Leon mumbled, trying to rid himself of the same tiredness I had moments earlier.
"We have to leave, and like now. It's 6pm and we still have a 4-hour drive to Raccoon City, we were supposed to work today." I rushed out of bed and sprinted to the bathroom, brushing my teeth and hair as fast as I could while getting out of my pajamas. I didn't even bother shutting the door as I heard Leon rushing around in the main room. Once we got everything together, we both grabbed our belongings, dropped off the room key and headed outside.
It was gloomy outside to say the least, the clouds were a dark gray as rain fell down from the sky. Both of us rushed to our vehicles, coincidentally Leon was parked next to me. I shoved my key into the slot and turned the key, but the engine never went. "Fuck" I slammed my hand against the steering wheel. Leon noticed my anger through his car window and left his vehicle, walking over to mine and tapping on the glass.
"What's wrong?" He asked once I opened the door.
"My car won't fucking start I forgot to put gas in it last night, and I assume it doesn't have enough to start. Do you have a gas canister at all with you?" Leon shook his head and grabbed my hand pulling me to his car.
"We'll come back for it later, right now we need to get to the station." I nodded to his statement, he was right we need to get to the station ASAP, like yesterday ASAP. Once we were settled into the car, Leon turned the keys and the engine roared to life. We were out of the parking lot in a flash and speeding down the road way too fast for my liking, but we had to make up for lost time. The car ride was awkward to say the least, we both had been completely irresponsible last night and there was no good excuse for our actions. I had spent probably most of the trip contemplating what I was going to say to the Lieutenant once we got there. Leon had been silent the entire drive as well, neither of us really in the mood to converse with one another.
"Need to get gas quick so we're going to stop at this gas station about 10 miles out. We're making good time so after that Raccoon City is maybe another 30 minutes?" I only nodded at the blonde sitting next to me. I was still far too anxious about the entire situation, and the fact that we were going miles over the speed limit wasn't helping. "It'll be okay, we can just say that your car broke down or something." He suggested.
"No way, I'm not starting my career on a lie." I turned towards Leon and glare at him.
"It was just an idea was all, I don't like lying either but if it means we get to keep our jobs... You gotta do what you gotta do." Leon kept his eyes on the road as he spoke, his left hand resting against the top of the steering wheel as his right hand was on top of the shifter.
"I suppose, but I'm just telling you now that I'm telling the truth once we get there." Leon nodded in response, slowly pressing on the breaks.
"Here's the gas station." I looked towards the road and saw the bright MIZIOL sign. Leon pulled into the closest pump station and stepped out of the vehicle. I stepped out as well decided to stretch my legs, and that's when I noticed that there was another vehicle in the lot with us. It was a cop car, but the passenger door was left open. 'Weird, the gas station doesn't look to be open. Why's there just a random cop car here?'
