Caspian and Kings rarely talked afterwards. He didn't initiate conversation, and Kings did not want to waste her breath if it was so one-sided. Instead, Kings pushed away her thoughts into a little box wrapped in duct tape in the back of her mind, she really wanted to focus on the musical from now on. After that was all done, she would allow herself to worry and overthink everything again. Since preparing for a Broadway musical only took four to six weeks –depending on certain factors– she could start overthinking again rather quickly. Or maybe she should just quit wasting her energy completely on him, it seemed like the smartest thing to do. But while they were still in the same musical, it was unhealthy, both for them and the whole rest of the cast, and it would most likely give Alexa a migraine. Thankfully though, Kings never felt disconnected from the rest of the group, especially the rest of the ensemble. Before she knew it, the first night of rehearsal in the theatre arrived. Everyone was in awe as they walked in, the house was beautiful with soft, red seats, an exceptionally large chandelier hanging in the middle of it, it was as if it took place in The Phantom of The Opera, it was truly breathtaking. The full run through –costumes and all– went swimmingly, and everyone was extremely proud of themselves.
Since the theatre was a bit farther from Kings' apartment, she had to drive, but she didn't have a car. Arriving at the theatre wasn't too much of a hassle, since her neighbour was heading that way for work anyways, but they were already back home, and Kings didn't want to bother them anymore. She arranged a ride, but it wouldn't be there for at least another ten or fifteen minutes. Instead of wasting time, waiting outside, Kings sat on the edge of the stage, running her lines silently again for good measure. Too engrossed in work, she was unaware of the footsteps that were approaching her hesitantly.
"Are you waiting for someone or are you just always hard working?" Kings jumped at the sudden sound and looked up from her script. Caspian took a seat next to her, leaning back against his hands as he looked at the beautiful ambiance of the theatre. Since Alexa was in a meeting with all the staff of the theatre, there was no one else in the room where this was happening.
"Both," Kings finally responded. "Besides, we all have to work our hardest if we want this show to be the absolute best," she shrugged simply.
"Yeah. Yes, of course. Absolutely, you're right." He sighed, unsure of what to say. "Don't you ever... get bored?" She closed her script, looking at him.
"Not usually, I am doing something I love. Whenever I think I'm bored I know I am just tired. Why? Do you?" Caspian was silent for a second, swinging his feet like a little kid.
"Sometimes," he finally admitted. "I sometimes think that I should just be watching musicals, not being in them. I do enjoy working on musicals, but sometimes I just wonder what I'm doing with it all. Where is this all going?" This was the first time Caspian and Kings ever had a good conversation, something about them and not their work.
"You never know with life; you never know where everything is going. But that can be a good thing because it allows you to explore so many things. And if theatre is not for you, then theatre isn't for you," Kings said, speaking truthfully, something she genuinely believed. "And if you know you like acting, there are so many different ways to be acting, it doesn't have to be strictly referred back to Broadway." Her phone chimed next to her, a notification about her ride back home. "I'm sorry."
"Why?" He questioned.
"I have to go. My ride is here." They hopped off the stage, heading outside.
"Don't be sorry, you have no reason to be." Kings gave him a small smile and said goodbye, getting into the car.
