Sometimes I dream of you
On the other side of time
Millenia between us
Keeping us apart
But when I listen real close
I can almost hear your voice
If my eyes ever linger
On the numerous stars
In the night sky
My memory reaches to yours
Across time and space
Hopelessly futilely but still desperately
I long for the connection
Of two souls worlds apart
How did you look
What did you sound like
Did your people know more
Than mine do now
Did you feel
You must have
I'm sure you felt and thought and lived
And it ruins me
That we'll never get to meet
Your end was our start
I wonder did you try to prevent it
Or did you know it was time to go
What was the last thing you experienced
How long did you last
Did you love and care for
Your universe more than we do ours
Or were you part monsters like us
Destroying what is precious
For fear of the unknown
Do we share the same DNA
And instincts and nature
That we act similarly
Still despite it all
Despite never meeting you
Or knowing anything about you
I miss you
And I'm sorry we took your place
Now you rest amongst the stars
Filtered through star dust
Reflecting infinite light
Floating in the abyss
Of our existence
Of all that wasn't but is
