Fragments

(Exter POV)

Getting up from the bed, I make my way over to the door, hand on the handle as I start to reconsider opening the door until the door handle turned for me, opening up to reveal a startled but delightful swirl. "Oh! Exter you're up. That's good, we we're getting worried." Swirl said as they grabbed my hand to lead me somewhere. Not responding due to still not being used to my voice not being glitched. I just silently follow along as swirl leads me into the kitchen.

Immediately, I spotted prosper sipping tea on a stool as he seemed to be lost in thought. As I stared at prosper, warning bells rung in my skull as the feeling of someone creeping up behind me was felt. Quickly turning, I grab the outstretched arm of the one who was about to touch me and flipped them over, their back slamming into the ground with a loud crack.

Staring at the one I flipped over, I quickly notice that it's rapier. Panicked, I'm quick to rush to rapiers side as I help him get up. "I'm sorry rapier I didn't know it was you!" I said with a feeling of guilt as I stared at rapier who seemed unbothered. "It's fine, I shouldn't have tried touching you in the first place without your consent." Rapier said as they waved my concern off. "Still- wait, what were you trying to do?" I questioned as I stared at rapier who was now hovering in place. "Well, I just wanted a..." Rapier said as they trailed off, not finishing their sentence. "Wanted a what?" I questioned as I narrowed my eye sockets at rapier, trying to figure him out. "Hug." "A hug?" "Yes." "You...you wanted a hug. From me?" I questioned as I stared at him in bewilderment.

"Yes. Can I?" Rapier asked as he stared at me with an expression that said they were ready to be rejected. "Sure?" I said, still finding the situation strange but accepted it nonetheless. Face lighting up, rapier is quick to reach for me and snatch me in a hug, startling me by how eager he was to have a hug. As I stared at rapier hugging me, I looked to my side to see prosper and swirl looking at me and rapier with an expression of...sympathy? Not for me however, it looked more directed at rapier than me.

Catching me staring at them, they made a motion which I translated as them wanting me to hug rapier back. Hesitant but not wanting to hurt rapiers feelings, I hug him back which just seemed to tighten his hold on me as I started to feel his body slightly shake in suppressed emotions. Moving slightly, I catch a look on rapiers expression, one filled with sadness, want, and protectiveness. "Uh, reaper?" I asked in concern before realizing I just called rapier reaper. "Shi- I meant rapier sorry." I quickly apologized but strangely rapier didn't look upset but happy.

"You called me." Rapier said with a happy grin as I stared at him in confusion. "Called you?" I questioned in confusion as rapier just continued to stare at me. "You called me reaper." Rapier said as they hugged me closer with a delighted expression. "Oh, that was just an accident." I said as rapier slightly pulled away to look at me. "I'm sure that was no accident Geno." Rapier said as my eye sockets widened at the awfully familiar name. "Don't. Don't call me that name. My name is exter, not that name." I harshly said on full defensive mode now.

"..." Not speaking, rapier and me were now stuck in a silent staring contest. Well, it was more like I was glaring into his eye lights as rapier just stared at me with an expression filled with sadness and slight hurt. "I understand. I will refrain from calling you that name again gen- Exter." Rapier said as they corrected their self, now fully moving away from me to head over to a coffee maker.

As I watched rapier leave, a painful ache of Regret? Guilt? Sadness? Maybe it was all three but I suddenly felt bad for being rude like that. Perhaps I should've told him not to call me that a little nicer. However, I don't understand. Just why did I suddenly get so defensive at being called Geno?  It didn't feel like I hated the name, it just didn't feel...right? No, it felt right but it just didn't feel like a piece of me just yet. I felt like a broken mirror. I was missing fragments. The name Geno was like a fragment. It's familiar to me but the piece of it isn't one with me just yet. I had to wait until the missing fragment could become one with me again.

As I had these thoughts, I didn't notice Con sneaking up behind me until I almost flipped him over like rapier. Luckily, Con was quick to react and managed to use his tendrils to catch himself from fully slamming into the floor. "Impressive." Con said with a smile before they pushed their self off the floor with their tendrils. "..." Not wanting to deal with anyone anymore, I head back to my room without a word.

Watching me leave, Con stares at where I left before turning to the others in the kitchen. "What happened?" Con questioned as his shades read 'Tell' on his face. "Things." Prosper said as he looked down at his tea. "A matter that does not need to be spoke of anymore." Swirl calmly said as they headed out of the kitchen. "I'll find out myself then." Con muttered as he turned around to head towards exter's room before stopping when crash suddenly teleports in front of exter's door with a serious expression. Noticing Con, crash is quick to give Con a warning glance before heading inside exter's room. "...Looks like I'll have to find out later then." Con said as they then turned around and towards their own room.

Info:

Rapier feels guilty for making exter uncomfortable like that.

Rapier decides it's best to stay away from exter less he do something stupid to upset exter further.

Exter kinda misses the hug rapier gave him.

Prosper is getting another cup of tea.

Swirl feels alert as he looks around. He feels something is going to happen.

Crash is personally checking on exter's codes because he saw they had started to glitch a little badly.

Rapier stops making coffee as he thinks about how exter's voice was no longer glitchy but smooth. It felt strange to hear his voice like that, but it didn't feel unwelcoming at all.
