Some days, death liked chasing its good friend, Yami. Today seemed to be one of these days. It waited for her on the rooftops as she swung from building to building, running away from the hero chasing her. It smiled at her, peeking out from corners in the streets, waiting for her to embrace it. It watched her bleed from her thigh in hopes she'd die from loss of blood.

"Not today." Yami would tell death. "One day. But not today."

Of course, given the work she did, this wasn't the first time she felt like she wouldn't make it out alive. This wasn't the first time she felt like death waited for her downfall to finally welcome her and take away her soul. But she wasn't dying until she accomplished her goals.

Yami skidded into a dark alley, barely lit by the moonlight, going invisible. The hero chasing her stopped, panting, looking around. He held his palm in front of him and out came a sword. Yami stepped towards him, light on her feet, not making any noise. This damn hero had stabbed her in the leg and managed to land several slashes on her back. On top of that, at some point during their fight, he managed to pull Yami's mask down. So he had to be killed.

Yami lunged forward, sliding the dagger in between his ribs, puncturing his heart. He let out a guttural sound, his eyes rolling up to his head. Yami pulled out the blade, his blood splattering on her. Her body fell back on a wall, her breathing ragged. The injury on her thigh needed to be tended.

Yami muttered a curse, trying to walk properly with most of her weight on one leg. She needed to hurry, and she didn't have her motorcycle or her phone, and on top of that, she was too far away from home. Yami winced in pain, stumbling to the ground and falling into the puddle of blood coming from the dead hero.

"For fucks sake." She grimaced, pointing her bangle at a building, going invisible as the wire pulled her up to the roof. She tried to take a few steps forward but fell down again instead. A piercing pain shot through her leg, making her inhale sharply.

"Yami?"

She looked up to see Toya with a cigarette in between his lips, looking down at her with horror in his eyes. He put the cigarette down and stepped on it, kneeling down in front of Yami. "Holy shit, you're covered in blood, Yami."

"Not of all of it is mine."

"That's not the point. Your leg is bleeding. Shit." He removed his long coat and took off his shirt. He ripped it and tied a strip tightly around her bleeding thigh. Yami inspected the burns and staples on his torso, seeing the full extent of his scars for the first time. In the distance, they heard sirens.

"Oh, fuck. We need to go." Yami muttered.

"...You're being chased?" Dabi raised an eyebrow.

"I killed the hero chasing me. I think it's the police this time." Dabi helped Yami stand up, putting one of her arms across his shoulder to support her.
