Yami let Dabi crash at her place after finding out that he'd been sleeping in the house across from her parents because he had no place to sleep right now. She had him take the couch and gave him an extra blanket. 'You can stay till you find someplace to rent,' she told him.
He had helped her countless times in the past. When he found out she did not have much to eat, he'd bring her a homecooked meal. When she needed to clear out her mind, he showed her the most breathtaking views. He helped her with tests and homework so she could avoid the belt at home. She wanted to help him, too. Not because she felt obliged to help him but because he was her first friend. She cared for him.
She woke up to the sound of her alarm, turning around with a groan to turn it off. She rolled back to her side and went into slumber again. She was in no particular hurry to wake up since she did not have any jobs for the day. Going to The Last Sip a little late wouldn't hurt.
She frowned in her sleep when she smelt something burning. She sat up sleepily, wondering what on earth could be burning. She got out of bed, putting on her furry pink slippers. She stalked to the kitchen to see Toya panicking in front of a pan on fire. He held a glass of water in his hand. Yami's eyes widened, and she ran up to him, snatching the glass from his hand.
"Shit, maybe I can deplete it with my own fire-" He began when Yami slapped his shoulder.
"Oi, don't you dare!" Yami scolded. She ran outside and grabbed the fire extinguisher, putting out the fire. She sighed and glared at Toya. "Were you trying to set my house on fire?!"
"No, I was trying to fry the chicken nuggets in your freezer." He replied in a matter-of-fact tone. Yami made a face at the burnt pan and put it under running water, steam immediately blowing off it. She dumped it in the trash once it was cool and faced Toya, pressing her index into his chest. "Listen here, you're not allowed near the stove again. If you want to heat something, use the microwave, and if you need to use the stove, you're coming to me."
Dabi looked down at Yami in delight. It was a little fun to see her barking orders at him. His eyes fell on her green silk night suit clinging to her body. He almost forgot what she was saying.
"Am I clear?"
"Yes, ma'am."
She shooed him out of the kitchen and took out another frying pan from the cabinet, setting a few nuggets to fry. While the nuggets fried, she whisked up a batter for waffles, moving back and forth between the two tasks. She took the plates with the food outside, but Toya wasn't there. She found him on the balcony, where she kept a table and a chair. She set the plates on the table and went back inside to put a jacket on. She came back with a chair, putting it across from Toya, who had already started to devour the food.
"When was the last time you ate?" Yami muttered, munching on her waffle.
"Ate ramen yesterday." He replied, not looking up from the food. Yami smiled at him. This scene was familiar.
