Author's pov:
Aether searched through his bag, pulling out his phone and earbuds. He put on some music before pulling out a library book.
He read for a while, thankful for the peace and comfort of the music before he got a tap on his shoulder.
Xiao's pov:
Ganyu insisted on driving us today after we said goodbye to dad, we drove to the school where I was supposed to be meeting the bus.
As soon as we parked and Hu Tao went inside to go to her normal classes, Ganyu left and I went to meet the trip director.
"Ah, Xiao. You're just in time. Aether just got here, so if you could go find him on bus 457, that would be good."
"What do you mean 'go find him'?" I questioned. If she meant 'go sit with him' that would be absolutely out of the question.
"The school has decided that everybody who was assigned to be sharing a room will have to sit together on the bus." She turned around to explain the situation to some other students approaching the busses.
I groaned and turned to look for bus 457.

Time skip
After Xiao found the bus

Despite really not wanting to, I boarded the bus and looked for Aether. Surprisingly, quite a bit of the seats were filled.
After searching nearly the entire bus, I found Aether in the third to last row, listening to music and reading some kind of book.
I tapped him on the shoulder and he jumped, clearly not expecting anything so sudden.
He pulled out an earbud and silently slid over, making room for me to sit.
"I wanted the window seat." I stated, glaring as I sat down. "Too bad." He rolled his eyes as he went back to reading, clearly not caring.
He put his earbud back in after a couple minutes of not talking, and eventually I decided to listen to my own music.
I rummaged through my bag and took out my earbuds and phone, pressed play and leaned back on the seat. It will probably be a while until we start moving.
I looked over a couple times at Aether, he seemed interested in his book. About the 8th time I looked over, he was putting it back in his bag. Did he seriously finish it that fast? What a nerd.
We finally started moving, leaving the school campus after what felt like 3 hours. I checked my phone, and it actually was 3 hours.
What a long day this is going to be.
Author's pov:
Aether and Xiao were silent most of the ride to the hotel, only occasionally talking to voice their annoyances to each other.
Around 3 hours in, nearing the end of the trip, Xiao was getting tired. He attempted to stay awake, but gave in, leaning back in his seat and falling asleep.
Aether found this as a great annoyance because he'd be the one to have to wake him up when they got there. Instead of dealing with the problem later, he decided falling asleep with him was a better idea.
He leaned on the window and let sleep overcome him, the rest of the ride there was fairly peaceful with no annoyances or disturbances.
