Author's pov:

After almost half an hour of fighting with each other over who gets how many pillows, Xiao finally was able to score 2 pillows to comfortably lay down on the floor.

Tossing and turning for nearly two hours before giving up, he sits up and looks up at where Aether sleeps peacefully, sprawled out on the bed.

Xiao groans as he stands up, gently pushing Aether over and climbing into the other side of the bed.

He puts in his headphones and scrolls on tiktok, careful not to wake Aether. He may dislike him, but he's not a monster that would purposely disturb someone's sleep.

He scrolls mindlessly for a good half hour before he's interrupted by someone hugging him from behind. He's startled and looks down.

Aether had shifted in his sleep to curl up beside him, likely seeking more warmth from Xiao's body heat or something he couldn't comprehend.

He attempted shifting out of his hold, but didn't want to wake him and gave up. Laying there helplessly before drifting off to sleep.

Time skip

In the morning

"Aether, Xiao, Wake up!" Aether slowly opened his eyes, hearing voices. He looked around, his eyes landing on a sleeping Xiao mere inches away from his face.

He quickly shuffled away, a shocked expression evident on his face as he looked at where the voices came from and hearing Amber and his sister, Lumine knocking on the door.

He stood up, deciding to pretend like it never even happened. He went to the door and opened it to find exactly who he expected.

Amber and Lumine quickly fell inside. "Mind explaining what you were doing?" He asks, his voice raspy from sleep.

"Def-definitely not listening in, no, never, haha-" Amber defends. He 200% does not believe her, but he doesn't feel like arguing.

"What do you two want." He asks, crossing his arms and waiting for an explanation. "Well, the trip director asked us to go around to all the students' rooms and have them get ready and meet in the lobby." Lumine explains.

"Alright, I'll wake up Xiao. Get out, thanks." He pushed them out of the room and shut the door, sighing loudly as he walked back into the shared bedroom.

"Who was it?" He hears Xiao mumble against a pillow. "Lumine and Amber. They told us to get ready, so you better get ready."

"And if I don't?" "Then you'd better take it up with the trip director." Aether fires back, grabbing his bag and going into the bathroom to get ready.

Xiao groans and grabs his bag as well. Rummaging through it to find suitable clothes.

Aether locks the bathroom door and changes in there. Xiao attempts to get in to change, but the lock prevents him from getting in. He decides to change in the bedroom.

As he's taking off his shirt, Aether walks out of the bathroom and into the bedroom, immediately covering his eyes and looking away.

"Jesus christ, you could at least warn me." Aether complains, his face turning a bright red.

"I doubt you can complain, look at your face." Xiao remarks, putting on a band t-shirt.

"Whatever, the trip director told us to meet her in the lobby." He angrily mumbles, turning around to leave.

Before he has the chance to, Xiao grabs his wrist, "What?" He mumbles, looking into his eyes. Xiao doesn't say anything, instead letting go of his wrist as Aether turns bright red again and storms off.
