"What if I ... stayed?"

"I couldn't ask you to do that

"I couldn't ask you to do that. I don't want to interfere with your plans."

"Then don't ask me." He stepped closer. "I want to." He added. *K* "Tell me ... you want me to stay."

I hesitated. Was this his move?

"I'm not implying that we have to do anything. We could just hangout a little longer." He repeated my same words from the car earlier in the night with a smirk.

The reassurance that he wasn't trying to sleep with me gave me the familiar feeling of relief mixed with disappointment. It was the strangest thing.

I got instant chills and the butterflies in my stomach became so intense I thought I could throw up right there in front of him.

I tried to remember how he replied, and when it resurfaced in my mind I grinned.

"I'd love to." I said.

His eyes shot to the floor nervously and his cheeks flushed red.

"I could sleep on the floor." He mentioned.

"I think there's a cot in the closet actually." I told him.

He gave me a nod and there was a minute of silence as we reveled in the childlike feeling that flooded us.

"So ... do you have to get 'cleared' to stay later?" I asked, referring to what his driver asked him on the way over.

This seemed to make him a little nervous and he stuttered, speaking slowly, "Uhh ... yeah I do ... actually ..."

His eyes scanned me up and down as he took a step back and towards the door. He seemed to have the same feeling I did, the relief and disappointment, but he gave me a smile.

*K* "I just need to make a few calls. I'll be right back." He said as he headed out.

I nodded and took a seat back on my bed, shocked at the sudden turn of events.

'Oh my god he's staying the night.' I thought excitedly yet nervously. 'I hope I don't snore. Or talk in my sleep. This could be embarrassing.' My mind raced.
