Roxy found an open area with fuzzy couches and a beautiful stained-glass table with a chessboard on it, all set up and ready to play. I set the bottles down and poured us each a shot.
"Are you ready?" I asked with a smirk.
"I can only hope so." She smiled, taking one into her hand. "So, did you see that guy?"
"The one at the bar?"
"Mhm."
I responded with a nod before taking my first drink.
"You sure we're talking about the same person?" She asked.
She pointed out to the bar, and it looked like she was aiming at the same man I saw.
"Him?" She asked.
I opened my mouth to respond when someone right next to the man I had seen turned around.
He also had blonde hair, but his was much lighter; more platinum, and cut off at his eye line. Dark brown almost black eyes were showing through the wavy strands, as well as shining diamond studs in his ears.
He had a slightly larger nose, but it wasn't protruding or misplaced. It fit in perfectly with his strong masculine facial features. With his arms exposed in his white T shirt, his toned muscles were left on display.
His skin was also smooth, hairless, and honey toned. He took a drink of a dark liquor in his glass as he scanned the room with his smoldering eyes.
I knew right away that was who Roxy was talking about. She was always more drawn to built, masculine looking guys, and this man's ruggedness was oozing out his pores.
"Okay. I see now." I laughed and as I turned back to her, she was taking her first shot.
She grimaced and shook her shoulders like a chill ran down her back.
"Anyway, the one facing us is the one I've had my eye on, but the guy next to him has been checking you out this entire time."
"I saw him at the bar." I blushed.
"Well .... Didn't we hit the jackpot?" She joked.
"Stand down, girl. Let's not do that, alright? It'll only bring trouble."
"C'mon. Let's have a little fun." She tried to convince me and nudged my shoulder before pouring us more shots.
"It's only our first night out." I reminded her.
She sighed. "Well, what if they approach us?" She mentioned, raising her glass to 'cheers' me.
I clinked mine against hers as I said, "Well, that'll be a different story."
We both tipped back our drinks.
"Woo!" She called out and cringed. "These are really strong."
"What do you think is behind the curtain?" She asked a few minutes later.
I shrugged. "I dunno. Probably just a private room."
"I'll bet that's probably where you go to fuck." She said, and I laughed, almost choking on the drink I was taking.
"Girl what the hell." I laughed after struggling to get it down.
"My new goal by the end of the night is to be behind those curtains with that hunk." She referenced the taller man.
"Roxy, you are too much." I teased her.
As my eyes were scanning the bar, they couldn't help but fall back on the man I saw before. But this time, I noticed someone sitting next to him. Not the tall blonde man, but a woman.
Had she been there before? I didn't even see her. She was turned to face him, her knees leaning against the side of his leg.
He seemed unattentive to her, still facing the bar and holding his drink, and would only glance to her to give a response and would turn back to look forward.
I was a little disappointed, but I brushed it off.
'No guys.' I said in my head. 'This trip is not about boys. Nor will it be ruined by boys.'
I chugged a bit of my drink straight from the bottle and sighed loudly. Roxy just shot me a smile; glad we were presumably having a good time.
Although I had given her my speech about staying level-headed on our vacation, I found myself still thinking about him a few minutes later and glancing over again.
'What's wrong with me?' I thought.
I hadn't ever seen a guy look at me like he did, and the way I felt when our eyes were locked ...everything else around us disappeared.
I didn't see the woman beside him nor the man behind him that Roxy had her eye on. I didn't see the bartender approaching us, or the people in between the man and me.
I shook my head and tried to clear my mind, pulling out my phone and I noticed my Bluetooth said, 'Connected to multiple devices'
'Hmm, weird.' I thought to myself, and slid it back into my purse, thinking nothing of it ...
