The hardest part about moving - moving.
Saying goodbye to the people I've known all my life has got to be the hardest thing I have ever had to do.
My mom and I packed up the entire house, sending some items to my aunt's house and taking the rest with us. The house we lived in wasn't that big, but with the new job my mom has gotten, our new house will be huge.
Mom tries to get me excited by telling me about it. She keeps talking about a new start, in a new place, with a better future for me and new friends to make.
I'm perfectly happy with my place, my future and my friends. Thank you.
I know this is a big part of her life, however, so I try to look happy when we leave. Try to look happy when we get on the plane. Try to look happy when a family friend picks us up to get to the house. Try to look happy when I see the magnificent house she's gotten us. Try to look happy when we unpack the things we can for the night.
When I get to my room, I felt so numb to it all. All I could do was fall asleep, and hope my mom woke me up in time for school the next day.
At 6:30 a.m. in walks my mom to wake me up.
"What?" I mumble, turning over to lie on my stomach.
"It's time to get ready for school." She hits me with a pillow. "Wake up."
"Go away."
"Get up or you'll be late."
"I don't need school. Algebra can find X on it's own."
"Get up or I'm pouring water on you," she threatens.
"Sure." I bury my head in the pillow and attempt to fall asleep.
About two minutes later, cold water is poured onto my back.
"Are you crazy!" I shriek. How dare she wake me up. How dare she take away the one thing I hold near and dear to my heart. Sleep.
"I won't tell you again. Get. Up. And get dressed."
I got up and headed for the bathroom. What am I even going to wear today?
It's so hard being a girl.
Twenty minutes later, I've eaten, brushed my teeth, showered and combed my hair, but I still have nothing to wear.
"Just put anything on! No one's going to look at you." My mom yells from downstairs.
Gee thanks. Always the confidence booster.
"Hurry up!" she yells again.
"Okay! I think I found something." I decide on blue skinny jeans, a black top, and black flats.
I head downstairs to where my mom is waiting in the car.
Outside, I see a group of boys picking up a girl two houses down from me.
One of them really stands out to me, maybe because he is the best looking guy I have ever had the pleasure of seeing in person. Is he a celebrity? You have to be a celebrity with those looks.
He has blond hair, a little of it falling over his eye. His skin is tan and glowing. I can't see his eyes from here, but I can tell that he's looking right at me, and suddenly I become self-conscious.
He looks at me and I look at him for a second or two before I turn away and get into my mom's car.
