Embarrassed

Makenzie POV:

Yesterday was a disaster. My dad's company got bought by Nikki's dad and everyone knows. Nikki asked me today how my family was going financially, and I said fine. She smirked and giggled while whispering something to Clare and Jessica. Seriously?! They both betrayed me.

Now I'm left alone and the only person who wants to hang out with me is Brandon because he is going to get forced by me. I'm so embarrassed and I cried in the bathroom today for 10 minutes straight.

I lost my money, friends, and perfect life. I didn't do anything to deserve this. What makes this worse is Nikki's dad owns the company and he probably already changed it to Maxwell's Holdings instead of Hollister Holdings. 

I don't think my life would get worse. Where did Nikki's dad get the money to buy my dad's company? I need to call my mum NOW. 

When I called her, she didn't pick up like always. Yesterday she said that she was working, my mum doesn't work. Did we go THAT broke?!

I started hating myself, why won't my parents pick up? I need them NOW, and they don't pick up. What great parents. 

I already apologised to Nikki about bullying her all these years and she hasn't said anything. I didn't want to say it in person, so I texted her. She's probably laughing about it right now with my stolen friends. 

Nikki used to be an easy target, now she's the one laughing about others. Why did my dad sell it to her dad? Ok, let's take this step by step. 

First step that happened was Nikki's dad bought the company. How did he buy it? I called back and the same number told me that he won the lottery. Why isn't my mum calling from her number? She told me she had to sell her phone and buy a cheaper iPhone 9. 

Second step, mum got a job and dad probably got a job too. My mum called me when she was at work, okay, makes sense. 

Third step, Nikki knew about it and so did the girls. How did they know? Oh yeah, Nikki's dad probably told her. 

Last one, Nikki told her friends and now everyone is making fun of me. How great. I felt like puking this very moment. So, I went into the bathroom and puked. I never ever puked before but today, I did. I started crying, when I heard footsteps coming into the bathroom. 

Panicking, I immediately stopped crying and acted like I was using the bathroom. 

'Mackenzie?'

Oh great, it's someone who knows me. What if it's Nikki?

'Nikki, I don't care if you make fun of me. This isn't a good timing. If you want to know, I puked for the first time in my life, and I would be crying now if I didn't want to be embarrassed more.'

'It's Jessica, and we didn't mean to do this. We prank called you. Nikki, Chloe, Zoey, Clare and me. It was a joke to get revenge on you, but I think it went too far.'

'ARE YOU JOKING ME?!' 

I was relieved, mad, annoyed, and happy at the same time. Relieved I didn't go broke, mad at my friends who betrayed me, annoyed at the prank and how I fell for it, and happy that I don't have to cry and worry about money now.

'I'm not joking, I'm so sorry. I was the one you talked to on the phone both times because I could imitate your mum's voice really well. I hope you feel better now, I'm going to leave because Nikki is calling me.'

'Let me speak a few words to Nikki', I ordered. 

Jessica shrugged and handed me her phone, which was vibrating with a picture of Nikki on it. 

'Hello? Jessica, where are you? We've been looking for you', Nikki's voice came through the phone. 

'I CAN'T BELIEVE WHAT YOU DID TO ME. THE PRANK WASN'T FUNNY. YOU'RE GOING TO REGRET IT.'

'What? Mac-'

I didn't let her finish and hung up. After giving the phone to Jessica, I cleaned up my face and marched out to find Nikki. Now things are going to get sour.
