The morning sunlight filtered through the lace curtains, illuminating Meriya’s room with a soft glow. Yet, the brightness did little to erase the lingering unease from her dream. She sat on the edge of her bed, her fingers tracing the tattoo on her collarbone as echoes of sinister laughter and muffled screams replayed in her mind.
Pulling herself together, Meriya headed downstairs, where Lacy was already waiting at the door, along with Lara and George.
“Good morning, sunshine!” Lacy chirped, her warm smile contrasting sharply with Meriya’s mood. “You ready for our day out?”
“Uh… yeah, just give me a minute,” Meriya muttered, brushing past them to grab her jacket.

“You okay?” George asked, his tone light but laced with genuine concern.
“Just had a weird dream last night,” she admitted, trying to shrug it off.
Lacy draped an arm around Meriya’s shoulders. “Well, let’s get you out of this funk. Nothing like a fun day to clear your head!”

The car ride was full of energy, with music blasting and playful banter flowing between the group. George hummed along to the radio, while Lara and Lacy argued over their next stop. Meriya, however, stared out the window, the edges of her dream still tugging at her thoughts.
