As Reina saw the pages of the diary turning in the gentle breeze, her eyes red and swollen from crying, she felt a surge of curiosity. She reached out and picked up the diary, her fingers trembling. Just as she began to open it, she heard footsteps approaching the room. Her heart raced, and she quickly hid behind a large velvet curtain, clutching the diary to her chest.
The footsteps grew louder, each step echoing ominously in the quiet room. Reina held her breath, peeking through a small gap in the curtain. She couldn't see who it was, but she could hear the intruder moving around, clearly searching for something.
The tension in the room was palpable, the silence only broken by the soft rustling of the intruder's movements. After what felt like an eternity, the footsteps finally began to fade away, the sound growing distant until it disappeared altogether.
Reina waited a few moments longer, ensuring she was truly alone, before emerging cautiously from her hiding place. Her hands still shaking, she tucked the diary securely within the folds of her gown and hurried back to her room, her mind racing with fear and anticipation.
As it got dark outside due to the rainy weather, Reina felt very anxious and decided to retire early to bed. The sound of raindrops pattering against the window added to her unease, each drop echoing the turmoil in her heart. She hadn't eaten anything, her worry overshadowing her appetite. Wary and on edge, Reina told Elara, her maid, not to disturb her for the rest of the night. She then locked herself in her room, securing the door and windows to ensure her solitude.
