Chapter Eight

Rosalie

I rushed to my next class, refusing to allow my mind to drift to his haunting words.

I'm never letting you go...

I didn't want to think about that, about the truth laced in them. The very words shook me to my bones. Just what I needed! Another freaking vampire hunting me down! I rolled my eyes in annoyance. I could never have a simple life could I?

I walked into my history class, apologising for being late I sat at the back of the class. I opened up my textbook and took out my pencil case, writing down everything on the board. After ten minutes of writing someone knocked softly on the door. I whipped my head up and saw one of THEM standing at the door.

Rosalie Hale.

She brushed her blonde hair over her shoulder and smiled flirtatiously at the teacher. She didn't even bother apologising for being late. Too dazzled to notice the teacher just continued with the lesson.

I kept my head down and silently prayed that she wouldn't sit next to me. The seat next to me was pulled out and I knew it had to be her. I groaned internally. It was just one after another with these people! Couldn't I ever get a freaking break?

Deciding it best to ignore her I continued writing down everything on the board. I could vaguely see her watching me. Annoyed I swept a curtain of hair over my shoulder, preventing her from any further observations. Didn't the bitch know it was rude to stare?

"Do you have a key for the locket?" She asked, her voice low and warm. Although I had decided that I would ignore her whether she spoke to me or not, her question sparked my curiosity. I didn't sound like a question the way she said it. It almost sounded like she was coaxing me to ask the same question. As if she knew something I didn't.

I dropped my pencil rather forcefully and looked at her. "You already know the answer to that question don't you?" I snapped, in no mood for any games. I was still sticky from the food fight and playing mind games with a blood sucking model wasn't exactly the tying that would put me in a good mood. She smiled as if she had gotten what she wanted. Damn it! She wanted me to reply, her damn mind games were already working.

"Yeah I do," she replied meekly, starting to write down what was on the board. When she didn't look like she was going to say anything else I tapped my foot against the leg of the desk impatiently. She chuckled at my impatient demeanor and looked back up at me. I urged her to continue by widening my eyes and lifting an eyebrow. She smiled and shook her head.

"You were never given a key. Only Edward and Bella have a key." She stated, only fueling my curiosity.

"If they're the only ones who have a key. Why give me the locket?" I asked slowly, Analysing her face for any change in emotion. I hated it when she laughed. I couldn't determine what she was laughing at. Whether it was at me or something I said or did I had no idea.

"The key is what you've been missing your whole life Mel, your parents are the key. They kept the key so that when they found you they could give you back that missing piece and make your life complete." She explained smiling at me. I grimaced and frowned at her.

"First of all, that's the sappiest and shortest thing I've ever heard. Secondly it all sounded like bullshit. And thirdly, don't call me Mel." I growled the last part and returned to scribbling in my book.

She exhaled a breath and leaned back in her chair. I risked a glance at her and found a frown on her face. Good. I thought bitterly. I won, she lost and she knew it. Without warning she leaned towards me, so close I shivered. Quietly she whispered into my ear.

"Look I've never seen Edward like this before. He's only going to do so much begging before he does something he'll regret. Do yourself a favour and just give him and Bella a chance."

I furrowed my brows and leaned away from her. "Is that a threat?" I hissed clenching my jaw so tight it began to hurt.

"Helpful advice." She returned with a smirk. The bell rang rather abruptly and before I had a chance to say anything else she had already left the room. I shook my head as I packed up my things.

"Damn vampires." I muttered.

There was only one period left. Gym. And god knows I hate gym. After everything that's happened today, I think I deserve to skip one class. Besides what are the odds that I'll have another encounter with one of the leeches? Too high for me to want to risk it. I slung my bag over the shoulder and left the school grounds, beginning the small walk home. Or well, the small walk to the warehouse I should say. I desperately needed a shower and although the warehouse didn't have one there was a lake nearby.

I approached the tall fence surrounding the gate and crawled through the small hole I had made. I pushed open the large doors and cursed at what I saw.

Edward freaking Cullen.
