Carina left Grey Sloan with the certainty that she would definitely return to Italy. Each encounter with Maya spiraled out of control, with the firefighter increasingly hurting the Italian with her rudeness. While Maya was being treated at the hospital, anger continued to dominate most of the lieutenant's feelings. The disagreement with Carina was the last straw, capping off what had been a terrible day for her. Maya received a medical certificate to take a few days off from her duties at the fire station as a rescuer. The only thing she could do was administrative work until her injuries from the fire healed.

Travis needed to stay in the hospital after the incident. Fortunately, the glass that had pierced his abdomen didn't hit any vital organs, so surgery was not necessary. However, Dr. Hunt thought it best for the firefighter to spend the night under observation and taking pain medication, as he complained of pain in that area after the glass was removed.

The day after the accident that took Maya and Travis to the hospital, the firefighter was immediately called by the captain as soon as she set foot inside the battalion. She already knew what it was about.

— Lieutenant Bishop, sit down — the captain ordered sternly. — Firstly, how is your arm?

— The doctor said it will be healed in a few days. I'll be able to return to the field soon — the lieutenant replied, impatient for the conversation. She wanted him to get straight to the point instead of beating around the bush.

— Bishop, your actions during the last rescue were unacceptable. You disobeyed direct orders and put your team at risk — the captain said, frowning.

— Oh, I'm sorry for wanting to save lives. Should I have waited for your orders while the building was collapsing? — Maya responded with a sarcastic smile.

— Bishop, I'm not here to argue with you. I'm here to make it clear that insubordination will not be tolerated in my team.

— Your team? It's interesting that you're more concerned with maintaining your authority than keeping people alive — Maya challenged the captain.

— You're crossing the line, Lieutenant. The hierarchy exists for a reason, and that's how things work here — the captain responded, raising his voice.

— Oh, sure. I should bow down to the great captain, the absolute holder of all answers — Maya looked at him defiantly.

— That's enough, Bishop! I'm fed up with your insubordinations. This will be the last one, do you hear me? For now, this is just a warning, but next time you'll be suspended from your activities — Beckett slammed his hand on the table.

The tension between Maya and Captain Beckett was palpable, each word laden with frustration and challenge. With one last defiant look, Maya left the room, leaving behind a visibly irritated captain. She knew her actions could have consequences, but she was willing to fight for what she believed was right, even if it meant challenging authority.

At Grey Sloan, Carina felt the weight of her decisions on her shoulders as she headed to Dr. Bailey's office. She knew she needed to talk to the Chief about her future on the team and the changes happening in her life.

— Come in, Carina. How can I help? — Bailey looked up and allowed the obstetrician to enter.

— Dr. Bailey, I need to talk to you about something important — the Italian said, taking a deep breath.

The Chief of Surgery stopped shuffling papers and focused her attention on the obstetrician in front of her.

— I'm listening.
