Amidst the intense smoke and oppressive heat, Maya advanced alongside the Station 19 team, determined to find her wife, Carina. Every passing second increased her anxiety, and she knew she couldn't waste any more time.

As they ventured through the interior of the burning building, guided by the flashlights on their helmets, the firefighters faced the adversities of the hostile environment. Visibility was minimal, and the smoke made breathing difficult.

Then, in a distressing moment, Maya spotted a figure lying on the ground, partially obscured by smoke. Her heart raced, and she rushed toward the fallen figure.

— Carina! — Maya shouted.

She reached the inert form and, carefully, turned her on her back. Maya's heart sank at the sight of Carina unconscious and visibly injured from the earlier explosion. The flames were closing in, and time was of the essence.

— Carina, wake up! We need to get out of here! — Maya urgently tried to wake her, but realizing her wife wasn't moving, she removed her own oxygen mask, placed it on Carina, and carried her in her arms.

The tension in the environment peaked as everyone joined forces to rescue Carina from that fiery nightmare.

Carina was swiftly attended to by the paramedics waiting outside the burning building. They worked diligently to stabilize her, administering the necessary first aid. However, Carina remained unconscious, heightening everyone's concern.

Maya, despite being distressed by the situation, knew her wife was in good hands with the paramedics. Determined to stay by her side, Maya decided to follow them to the emergency room, ignoring any contrary recommendations. Upon entering, doctors and interns provided oxygen to Maya, as the firefighter had inhaled a lot of smoke while carrying her wife out of the building. For her, being present was vital, no matter what came next. Love and concern for the woman she loved propelled her to stand by Carina's side, regardless of the adverse circumstances they would face.

Carina was taken to another area of Grey Sloan, unaffected by the fire, in critical condition. Dr. Hunt, along with residents and nurses, immediately brought her to one of the emergency rooms, where they began evaluating her condition. Her state was alarming due to the intense smoke inhalation, significantly affecting her airways. Healthcare professionals acted swiftly and precisely, connecting her to a ventilator and administering medications to improve her oxygenation.

Shortly after, Bailey arrived with Amelia and Altman to assist in the treatment of the doctor and friend.

Meanwhile, Maya, outside the emergency room, was in an indescribable state of despair. Tears streamed down her face, and her mind was flooded with worries and fears. She knew the situation was serious, and helplessness consumed her. Her heart longed to see Carina wake up, smiling as usual, and this wait felt like an eternity.

Maya knew she was in the hands of the doctors and the hospital's healthcare team, and in this critical moment, there was nothing more she could do than wait. She remained there, in a silent vigil, with her hands pressed against the emergency room glass, sending silent thoughts and prayers for her beloved's recovery. Time seemed to drag on as she struggled against despair, eagerly anticipating the moment when she would hear good news about Carina.

After the arduous work of controlling the fire at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, the Station 19 team, consisting of Andy, Vicky, Jack, and Sullivan, anxiously made their way to the hospital's emergency room in search of Maya and Carina. They knew Carina's situation was critical.

Upon arriving at the hospital, the atmosphere was tense and anxious. The area around the emergency entrance was crowded with people—paramedics, firefighters, and even Grey Sloan doctors who had also come seeking news about their colleagues and friends.
