A New Dawn
The first rays of the morning sun filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow on the room. I stirred, the warmth of the sun pulling me out of my slumber. As I slowly opened my eyes, the events of the previous day came rushing back to me. The fight with Gurung, the fear in Aadhyas eyes, the relief when I had finally defeated him. It all seemed like a distant memory now, a nightmare that had passed.
I turned my head, my eyes falling on Aadhya. She was nestled against me, her head resting on my chest. Her breath was soft and steady, a testament to the peaceful sleep she was in. A small smile played on her lips, making my heart flutter. The sight of her, so peaceful and content, made me smile. It was a sight I could get used to.
I gently brushed a stray lock of hair from her face, careful not to wake her. Her skin was soft against my fingers, a stark contrast to the roughness of the previous day. I traced the outline of her face, my fingers lingering on the bruise that Gurung had left. The sight of it made my blood boil, but I pushed the anger away. Today was a new day, a day of healing and peace.
As I lay there, watching Aadhya sleep, I felt a sense of calm wash over me. The storm had passed, and in its wake, it had left a sense of tranquility. I wrapped my arms around her, pulling her closer to me. She stirred in her sleep, her hand instinctively reaching out to hold mine. The simple gesture filled me with a sense of contentment.
I spent the next few hours just watching her, taking in the peaceful sight. It was a stark contrast to the chaos of the previous day, a reminder of the calm after the storm. And as I lay there, with Aadhya in my arms, I knew that we had weathered the storm together. We had faced the nightmare and come out stronger.
When Aadhya finally woke up, her eyes met mine. She looked at me, her eyes filled with a mix of relief and gratitude. "Deva", she whispered, her voice hoarse from sleep. In response to her call, I leaned down and kissed her softly on her lips, a silent promise of my presence and protection. I pulled back slightly, looking into her eyes for permission. Seeing her nod, I leaned in again, this time kissing her more passionately, a testament to the intensity of my feelings for her. We kissed for a few more minutes, lost in our own world. Then, I gently turned us over so that I was on top, pinning her to the bed while continuing to kiss her, a symbol of my protective nature.
I simply smiled at her, my thumb gently stroking her hand. Words were not needed in that moment. Our eyes said it all. As the day progressed, we spent our time in silence, each lost in our thoughts. But the silence was not uncomfortable. It was a silence of understanding, of shared experiences. It was a silence that spoke volumes about our bond, about the trust and respect we had for each other.
And as the sun set, marking the end of the day, I knew that we had overcome the nightmare. We had faced the storm and come out stronger. We had proven that we were not just a ruler and his subject. We were Deva and Aadhya, two individuals bound by a shared experience, by a promise of protection.
And as I held Aadhya in my arms, watching the sun set, I knew that we were safe. We had weathered the storm, and we were stronger for it. And I knew, deep down, that I would do anything, fight anyone, to protect her. For she was not just the woman I had fallen for. She was my responsibility, my promise. And I would not let anyone break that promise. Not now, not ever.
