REGULUS AWOKE IN THE DIMLY LIT ROOM, shrouded in Slytherin's green and silver. The heavy curtains veiled the windows, casting a gloomy ambiance. The cold emptiness echoed through the Black Manor as he realized he was alone, his mother's absence leaving a hollow silence in the air.

Since Dumbledore allowed him to leave Hogwarts a day ago, the family ball is rapidly approaching, starting tomorrow night.

Regarding Dumbledore, Regulus' thoughts were consumed by his words; he thought about him often.

"It's best that you move fast and keep quiet."

Regulus may have thought of various things when he thought about the Horxcruxes, particularly the locket, since he still had not replaced the original with the replica even though he knew in his heart that he ought to have done so sooner.

Regulus sighed, got out of bed, and opened his drawer to see the duplicate locket. He had already instructed Kreacher to leave it in the drawer for the time being, so he took it out, stuffed it in his cloak pockets, and went downstairs. Though he did not reach all the way down, he saw that Kreacher was standing inside the room that led to the Black family tapestry.

"Kreacher, what are you doing here?" He bowed to his height and asked his house elf a calm inquiry.

The elf looked at his mater and with a simple reply; "Kreacher lives to serve the noble house of Black."

In response, Regulus gave a little nod. "And you're brilliant at that." He mumbled, briefly looking at the floor before turning to face the elf again.

"Would Master Regulus like breakfast?" Kreacher asked.

The boy gave him a gentle smile and said, "I would." He said while he watched Kreacher exit the room. Regulus reached for the doorknob and prepared to close the door, but found himself unable to do so. Instead, he stood outside the room and took a moment to observe the wallpaper before entering the room and examining it more closely."
