Jin's heart pounded as he stood up, his hands slightly trembling. He took a deep breath, reminding himself to stay calm. As Luna walked in, their eyes met, and both felt a spark of recognition and excitement.
"Luna?"
"Hi, Jin. It's so nice to finally meet you."
Jin led her to the table and pulled out a chair for her. The gentlemanly action made her smile and he felt his cheeks warm.
"I hope you like Japanese food."
"I love it. This place is beautiful. Thank you for arranging all of this. It must have been quite a task to close the restaurant."
"My brother was happy to help."
Jin didn't mention that his brother was actually quite curious about the woman who managed to catch his attention.
They began to eat, chatting easily about their favourite foods, their families, and their interests. Jin found himself drawn to Luna's genuine nature and the way she listened intently to everything he said. She was easy to talk to, and he felt a connection growing stronger with each passing minute.
Jin could feel the initial nervousness melting away, replaced by a comfortable ease. He reached across the table, his fingers brushing against Luna's hand. She didn't pull away; instead, she turned her hand over, interlacing her fingers with his.
"I have to admit, I was really nervous about tonight. I didn't know what to expect, but this... this feels right."
Luna's eyes shimmered with emotion.
"I felt the same way. But now, sitting here with you, I feel like I've known you for much longer."
They continued to talk, their conversation flowing effortlessly. Jin shared stories from his time in the military, while Luna spoke about her career and the little moments in life that made her happy. They discovered shared interests and common values, building a foundation of mutual respect and admiration.
As the evening drew to a close, Jin walked Luna to the door. The night air was cool, and the city lights twinkled around them. They stood facing each other, neither wanting the night to end.
"Thank you for tonight, Jin. It was perfect."
Jin smiled, his heart full.
"Thank you for coming, Luna. I had a wonderful time."
They stood there for a moment, the silence filled with unspoken promises and the anticipation of what was to come. Finally, Jin took a step closer, his hand gently cupping Luna's cheek.
She leaned into his touch, her eyes closing briefly.
When she opened them, Jin was smiling at her.
"Can I see you again?"
Luna's smile widened.
"I'd like that very much."
They exchanged a lingering, meaningful look before Luna turned to leave. Jin watched her go, feeling a sense of contentment and excitement for the future. As he walked back into the restaurant to help his brother clean up, he couldn't help but think that his mother's suggestion was the best advice he had ever taken.
In the quiet aftermath of their first meeting, Jin felt a deep sense of gratitude and hope. He knew this was just the beginning of something special, something that could change his life in ways he had never imagined. And he was ready to embrace it with open arms.
