Meanwhile, in the Savanaclaw Dorm...

The students have a talk about tomorrow's Beanfest.

One of the students says, annoyed, "Tch. I wanted to get on the monster team this year."

But another student says, "Heh. You're as slow as a turtle anyway. You wouldn't be hunting anything but other people's dust on the monster team."

The student glare at the other classmate, "Oh yeah? I could show you what a real hunt's like right now. Wanna try me?"

Suddenly, there is a loud, "RAWR!"

The Savanaclaw students yelps, "Yipe!"

Everyone turns to see Leona.

With a frown, Leona says, "Quit your yappin', go back to your den, and get to sleep before I roast you both on a spit."

"YES, SIR! Good night, Housewarden, sir!" the students respond.

Jack questions, "Is it just me, or is Leona even moodier than usual today?"

"My guess is that he's annoyed he can't skip out on the big game tomorrow," Ruggie says, "Beanfest is a PE activity, and PE's a required credit. Leona's been cuttin' class so much that he's in danger of being held back again this year."

"Wait, really?" Jack asks, rather surprised, "Leona's not remotely bad at athletics. Why would he skip out on PE?"

"Look, Jack. Just 'cause a guy's good at something doesn't mean he likes doing it," Ruggie says.

But then says to himself, "But hey, this's a golden opportunity for me to score a week's worth of daily specials at the cafeteria. Shyeheehee!"

Then says out loud, "There's also the fact that unlike the two of us, Leona got stuck on the farmer team. I can only assume that the notion of being prey offends his lion pride. Who knows? He might be stressed out over that. Or not, heh."

Hearing it, Leona growls in anger, "Grrr... Who're you to say how I feel about anything?"

"Whoopsie! Heard that, didja?" Ruggie replies with a grin.

"I'll concede that by the rules of the game, the farmer team is the side that gets chased. But in the original story, it was the monster who wound up hunted by the farmers. Better watch out, or you'll get beaned right in your muzzle," Leona says.

"You bet I'll be watchin' out. That harp's not going anywhere if I've got anything to say about it," Jack says, sounding determined, "As a Savanaclaw student, I'd never embarrass my dorm in a physical contest with no magic. Just you watch! I'll capture more farmers than anyone else tomorrow."

"You've got guts to say that to my face. Good luck with that. Just remember that we're not kids getting all excited for a field trip. You should get to bed," Leona says.

"Yes, sir! I'll do that now," Jack says. Then he walks off to bed.

Seeing Jack leave, Leona scoffs, "Hmph. Look at him, all worked up. I'll never understand canines who enjoy chasing their own tails around the yard."

Ruggie snickers, "Shyeheehee. Good thing you've got just the monster on your side to make sure our peppy wolf friend doesn't catch you."

Then Leong sternly glares at Ruggie, "You'd better do your job...if you hope to make good on those cafeteria daydreams of yours, that is."

"You're the boss, Boss," Ruggie says.
