Chapter 25: Quite the Decent Haul

At the botanical garden, Briar and her group soon arrived.

"Here we are at the garden! Phew. Made it in one piece," Cater says.

But Cater smells something, "Is it just me, or does something smell...exotic?"

Soon, Briar begins coughing after smelling the scent, "I do, and it's really spicy."

"Not so much exotic as extremely spicy. It's a smell that whets the appetite," Jade says.

Soon, Grim is drooling from the mouth, "You ain't kiddin'. I can't stop drooling!" He soon begins sniffing around, "It's comin' from thataway. Let's go see what's cookin'!" and then run off.

"Grimmy, don't let your stomach do ALL the thinking. This could be a monster team trap!" Cater calls out.

"Grim! Wait!" Sereia calls out.

"We better go follow him. I mean, who is cooking during an event?" Briar replies.

And with that, everyone begins to follow Grim inside the garden.

Unknown to the group, Jamil witnessed them entering the garden, "What have we here? Cater from Heartslabyul, and Jade from Octavinelle. Plus Briar, Sereia, and Grim from Ramshackle Dorm," He soon shows a smirk, "That should make for quite the decent haul. Heh heh heh..."

Sometime later...

Kalim happily says, " Okay, the meat's done! Top it with all the veggies and pickles you like, then wrap it all up in the bread."

"Meow-wow-wow-wow, thanks for the chow!" Grim happily says and begins eating the food, "Mmm, s'good! It's spicy, but with this salty-sweet sauce that blends with the meat's flavor and elevates it to a whole other level!"

"One sec, Cater, Briar, Sereia. I'll whip up a couple for you, too," Kalim happily says, "The meat shouldn't take much longer. Just sit tight for a few."

"Yeaaah, I think I'm gonna pass, actually," Cater says.

"I think I'm good," Sereia says.

"No thank you. I'm fine," Briar says.

But Kalim insists, "Aw, don't be shy! There's more than enough to go around."

"Yeesh... Jade and Briar need to get back, and fast," Cater says.

"Why? I don't see what the big hurry is," Kalim says.

"Look, all I'm saying is that this grilling you're doing makes for a strong smell that carries surprisingly far..." Cater explains.

Suddenly, something has been fired.

Then Jamil and other monsters make an appearance.

"Farmers spotted! There's a group of them!" Jamil says.

And soon other Monster Teams appear.

"Hah. Like fish in a barrel!" One Monster says.

Then another Monster says, "Seize them!"

Kalim is shocked, "Huh? Jamil?!"

"Mrow?! Where'd all these monster team guys come from?!" Grim cries out in shock.

"Yeah, that's about what I was expecting," Cater says, knowing the situation, "Cooking something that smells that strong and distinctive is basically painting a giant bullseye on yourself."

"The spices in shawarma are potentially fragrant, it's true. I was honestly just trying to make sure Kalim had a nourishing lunch today. This was an unexpected windfall," Jamil says.

Hearing that statement, Grim angrily says, "Using food to lure folks into a trap is playin' dirty!"

"I think we'd better make a break for it, guys!" Cater says.

"Yes. Let's get out of here!" Sereia says.

And with that, the Farmers make a run for it.

Then Jamil commands, "After them! Don't let them escape!"

And with that, he and the others from the Monster Team chase after them.
