Chapter 14: Be Careful Not to Provoke

Floyd stands up on the tree and calls out, "Oh, hey. Whaddup, Sea Snake?"

Recognizing the voice, Jamil searches around, "Floyd?! Where—?" and soon looks up, "Up above?!"

And up in the trees is Floyd, standing there with a grin on his face.

"Yup. Right here in the trees," Fkoyd says.

Jamil is concerned about it, and thinks, "Oh no. He caught me completely off-guard. I know he's on the farmer team. What awful luck, running into such major opposition this early in the game... Losing to a housewarden or vice housewarden would be one thing, but it's far too early to get eliminated by a regular student! This is going to be an embarrassment to Scarabia. How do I get out of this?

"Sooo, Sea Snake. Want a bean blaster?" Floyd asks with a grin and holds out his bean blaster.

This leaves Jamil confused, "Wait, what?"

"I just ain't feelin' it. I wanna take a nap, and I'm not using this, so you can have it," Floyd says, not really giving a care.

Jamil says in thought, "I'm a monster, but he's giving me a piece of farmer equipment? What's going on here? ...Ah, I see now. (I'm betting he can't see my patch from where he is. I should be careful not to do anything to provoke him."

And Jamil says, "I'm good, thanks. If I took that off your hands and you ended up in trouble later because of it, I'd be the one taking the blame."

"Heh heh heh... Ahahaha! You're a real smooth liar, Sea Snake," Floyd says with laughter, "I saw Sea Otter pass by just a few minutes ago, and he was wearin' a farmer patch. You're the vice housewarden, so you've gotta be a monster, right? That makes us enemies.

"So you WERE onto me. It's not nice to toy with your prey, you know," Jamil says with a frown, "You couldn't just beaned me with that blaster and spared us this entire song and dance."

"What, do you WANNA get eliminated? Look, I told you, I ain't feelin' it," Floyd says.

"Huh?" Jamil responds, confused.

And Floyd says, "You're chasin' after Sea Otter, right? He headed for the botanical garden."

"What's your angle? What do you get out of leaking intel to your enemy?" Jamil questions with a frown.

"I couldn't care less who's friend or foe. I said I wanted a nap, and I'm gonna take one. So how's about you get lost and we call it good?" Floyd says.

In his thoughts, Jamil has his doubts, "I still feel like I'm missing something, but I should probably get out of here before he changes his mind. If he did change his mind and come after me, I wouldn't stand a chance against him unarmed."

But simply decides to say, "All right. I'll take the tip for what it is and leave you to your nap." and walks off.

"Great. Later," Floyd says, watching Jamil leaves.

Once he'ts gone, Floyd says, "Finally, some peace and quiet..."

He then lets out a yawn and decides to take his nap.
