Due to chapter 27 of FL S2B2 being out there's something I want to talk about.
The Starling project, similar to Project Libitina (tiny spoiler UwU), is a project entirely based on the capacities of the human body.

Through stripping them of their emotions either through intense torture or taking out the remnant, the human mind doesn't react negatively towards crimes or stress. It becomes nonchalant and almost careless, creating a perfect tool. They're easily controlled by their master/tormentor,

They don't have free will, only acting on their master's command (This is also why Nighty had fought the others, as his command was to protect Sylvie. However a demon isn't that easily controlled, as we saw).

Due to the lack of remnants, a secondary host can take control of the victim and has almost full control of the victim, except for very few and complex things, i.e. the shadow form. Sylvie was unable to activate it since it would've cost way too much energy and the requirements weren't fulfilled to activate it. It's equal to something as hard as turning Henory back into Mitchell. It's just too draining, even tho the requirements would be fulfilled. As soon as there's one error, the shit can't activate any special powers of the victim. If it had been dark and Sylvie had all of her powers together, there's no doubt she would've been able to take over the shadow form.

Speaking about other forms, as soon as the victim is forced to take in a different form, they will inevitably go insane, but never against their master. Even tho they easily could kill them, the memory alone of being taken over once and being entirely under their command is enough to stop them.

All in one, a Starling is more dangerous than a mind broken slave. They have no way of fighting back and are only there to serve their master's purpose like robots.
