We were all sitting in our Defense Against The Dark Arts class waiting for Professor Lupin to show up. I was sitting next to Hermion while Harry and Ron sat beside each other. We talked with one another. Aside from myself.

I was too fixated on the events that had happened after Delilah and I's date. Sirius Black somehow broke into the castle and was most likely hunting Harry. When I had time, I asked Emrys how someone could do such a thing. He was unsure, telling me that Hogwarts' resistances prevented anyone from coming in by floo flame or apparition. He seemed to know how worried I was and continued to teach me more spells. I was soon able to cast unverbally, and Emrys said I'd be able to do wandless magic soon. He was saying I was surpassing most in my year already.

I learned spells above my grade. Like Bombarda, Diffendo, Incendio, and an invisibility charm that worked like that of an invisibility cloak. I was learning so much from Emrys. I still didn't know why he was so keen on helping me.

Even then, worry still consumed me. For the real friends I've made. The one I was coming to love.

Hermione seemed to have sensed my worry as she looked at me. She rested her hand on my shoulder.

Hermione: "(Y/n)? Is everything alright?"

Her voice carried a worried tone. I looked up, meeting her eyes. I didn't wish to worry her or anyone. So I gave a forced smile.

(Y/n): "Y-Yeah, I'm fine."

She looked deep into my eyes as if she were looking into my soul.

Hermione: "You're lying. Come on, you can tell me what is going on. I trust you with my secret. You can trust me with yours."

The sincerity in her eyes and softness in her voice calmed some of my worries. So, I opened up.

(Y/n): "It's this Sirius Black stuff. If he was able to get in the castle... what else is he capable of? I want to be able to protect you."

Hermione's face then became incredibly flushed by my words. I noticed and realized what I had just said.

(Y/n): "I-I mean, as in you and the others. Y-Yeah, that's.... what I... meant."

Hermione: "O-Oh, right. Of... of course. What else could you have meant?"

We both spoke nervously and looked away from each other. But not for long. Our eyes came back to one another and gave a slight smile to one another.

(Y/n): "You know, I'm... I'm looking forward to our date. On the next Hogsmeade visit."

Her smile started to brighten a bit more at what I said.

Hermione: "As am I. And please, don't worry yourself too much about Black. We'll be fine. We'll have each other's backs."

We just smiled as we looked at each other. No one else was paying us any mind as we leaned closer to one another. Inching closer and closer.

The doors to the classroom flew open. Causing Hermione and I to back away from one another. We looked to the entrance to see not Lupin, but Professor Snape.

He walked in with such an authoritative presence. He waved his wand, closing the door. As he walked down the aisle, he shut each widow shutter as he passed with the flick of his wand.

As he made it to the desk in front, he pulled a rope. Unrolling a projector screen.

Snape: "Turn to page three hundred and ninty-four."

For just saying a number. I admit that he made it sound interesting for some reason.

No one argued, as we all got our books out. Flipping to the page we were told.
