SPENDING as much time as Shivani had before summer with Stiles Stilinski had really, really affected her.

How you may ask?

Before meeting the spastic boy, Shivani would default to silence at any given moment. Now? Her biting whit and punishing sarcasm seeped into every conversation she had. Mayhaps that was the reason she and Lydia Martin got along so greatly over the course of the last few months.

The comfortable heat that followed summer treated Shivani nicely. The Caddel girl even dared to claim that the season of summer favored her majorly. Her face was glowingly sun kissed, and her hair was thriving with all of the swims she had gone for. Saltwater really did the trick to keep her hair lush and soft. Shivani had a great summer despite Allison Argent's absence. Shortly after summer, the tall brunette took off to France to take some time away. Though Shivani would miss her, she understood that France was probably for the best. After everything the Argent girl had gone through between her aunt going crazy, her mother's suicide and then her grandfather going mad, she desperately needed a break.

With Allison gone, both Shivani and Lydia was left with little to no friends. The once popular girl had fallen a few ranks on the social ladder, and Shivani, well, she didn't have any friends to begin with. By chance the two bumped into one another at the start of summer while at the grocery store. Lydia had originally come off as a mean girl to Shivani, but upon getting to know her, the mermaid came to realize just how wrong this assumption had been. The strawberry blonde was smart, funny and compassionate. The two began talking and after finding common ground, the two quickly became close friends. Maybe it was trauma bonding of some sorts. With Jackson having left as well as Allison, it left a gaping hole in Lydia's heart. A hole Shivani filled up perfectly. And after what the supernatural world had done to the both of them, they found great comfort in one another.

The Martin girl was a party animal, that was for sure. She had managed to drag Shivani to a handful of parties over the summer. Initially, the mermaid had been very skeptical of idea of partying her summer away. Being around careless drunk people in the possession of drinks? It didn't combine well with the fact that one single drop of liquid was enough to make Shivani completely fish out. But after just two parties, Shivani was hooked. It was fun to just let loose. With her hair down, she could relax and have the full teenage experience. It was fun. It was exactly what Shivani needed after the exasperated spring she'd just had. Somehow Lydia was very good at telling what her friends needed. The girl was attentive which Shivani happily welcomed. Her only worry this summer had been how to be as good of a friend back.
