I slept for a long time like a hibernating frog.
My condition worsened so much during the day that I had to lie in bed all day.Shannon, with a concerned gaze due to a slight fever, left a cup of tea by the bedside. The pamphlet brought by the secretary was neatly arranged on a distant table.
The thought of Aiden grilling the promised steak made my mouth water, but oddly enough, it didn't really occur to myself that i would actually be able to eat it. Sometimes, premonitions hit the mark perfectly, and my mood wasn't exactly pleasant.
To make matters worse, Cole had gone to the Manhattan hospital, so I had to wait a bit longer for the examination. There was no urgent need for treatment, as there was no shortness of breath or high fever.
Meanwhile, as the sun set, the sound of Aiden's car traversing the rugged terrain echoed as it entered. Normally, even feeling dizzy, I would have rushed out eagerly. At least I should have peered outside on the balcony, but even that was beyond reach.
Because he couldn't see my face, Aiden's footsteps rushing into the house were as noisy as when he left. It hadn't been a minute since the headlights went out, but the sound of his steps echoed as he climbed the staircase.
"Seowon."
His face was already filled with worry as I had told him through the text that I was not feeling well. I was a little embarrassed to even say I was in pain because I was afraid it might be due to having too much sex. I didn't want Aiden to feel guilty, so i just smiled, and ignored my stiff stomach.
"Cole called. He'll be here soon."
"You have a fever."
"It's not even 38 degrees."
"I'm still worried."
Aiden, chilled by the outside air, cautiously hugged me. Reluctant to lie down like a corpse, I slowly sat up. Leaning against the bedhead, I rested my arms on his shoulders. Enjoying his gentle pat and caresses, I closed my eyes.
"Have you eaten?"
"A bit of fruit."
"Shall I heat up some porridge?"
Dizziness made the offer seem disorienting. If it wasn't Aiden's steak, I wasn't particularly eager to eat.
"I'm okay. Let me get treatment from Cole first."
"Got it. Then, just relax for now..."
Sensing my discomfort as I sat with my head bowed, Aiden removed his outer jacket.
Discarding his jacket on the table, he reached into the warm blanket to check the temperature. Trying to help me lie down properly, he attempted to support beneath my thigh. That's when I felt a damp and sticky sensation.
Worried that I might have wet myself in pain, my face flushed. Sensing something amiss, Aiden, who sensed something strange, lifted the blanket and checked the bed sheets.
Before I could see it with my own eyes, he used his fingertips to scoop up the sticky liquid. The liquid was not bright red in color but rather it dark red. Aiden stiffened when he saw me frozen at the same time.
"blood... Is it blood?"
I was so shocked that my throat closed up.
Aiden calmly nodded his head and removed the blanket from my body. As he lifted my butt, I saw a dark stain the size of his palm. Only then did the lukewarm stomach pain become stronger."It's okay. It's not a lot of blood."
"Haah.. Haah.."
When I realized the situation with my own eyes, fear suddenly surged. Though I had experienced minor bleeding in childhood, this was the first time I had seen such vivid blood.
Afraid of acknowledging the possibility of something was seriously wrong, I bit my lower lip, suppressing both pain and fear, yet tears welled up in my eyes involuntarily.
