"YOU RAN INTO WHO!?"

Sylvia shrieked, a streak of terror crossing her face.

The moment Butler McMahon had escorted the king back to the central Palace, you'd bolted for your chambers, nimbly climbing the side terrace and leaping back over the railing with a racing heart. Sylvia had already been waiting for you by the door, enraged with fire burning in her eyes.

"How was I supposed to know his highness was touring my mother's grounds!?" You defended, racing to your looming wardrobe in hopes of finding something more suitable to wear when you inevitably had to see the King again.

Sylvia rounded on you before you could even turn.

"If you're going to be a fool, then at least allow me to help you choose your gown. Honestly," the maid clucked, turning you back around and forcing you to sit at the vanity by your bedside.

As the head maid twirled your hair into gorgeous braids, you couldn't help but seeth at the memory of King Forger's face as he barely registered you, didn't even verbally acknowledge you. This wedding was nothing more then spelling out your doom once you reached that alter.

Once Sylvia deemed you presentable enough, she ushered you toward the royal dinner Hall. The candles and chandeliers lining the room shone brightly, indicating that your father had no intention of allowing King Forger to spot a single weakness. Both within this dinning room and beyond the castle walls. A united front.

Yuri was the first person to rush you, nearly tackling you on the spot.

"Y/N, if the king so much as attempts to kiss the back of your hand I will have my legion of soldiers storm in here and-"

The booming of the Emperror's voice cut him of. "You will do no such thing my son." He gave you a critical eye, a warning look. "Your sister knows what must be done for our Empire."

Indeed you did. That didn't make you resent your father and the king any less. You were doing it for your people and no one else.

Suddenly, the blaring of trumpets sounded, and the grand doors creaked open. Naturally, you and Yuri stepped in line beside your father, just as you had since you were children.

Unlike the last time you saw him, King Forger was decked in Western jewls, an evident symbol of wealth and power. War medals dangled fittingly across his broad chest, reminders of his strength. If you hadn't known better, you would have sworn your father's brow twitched at the vision that was the Western ruler.

You bowed as he approached. A flicker of his eyes darted to you before roaming back to the Emperror and your brother.

"Your highness," your father greeted lightly, a simple nod to him. The Emperror would not bow.

"Your majesty," King Loids voice was smooth as honey, delicate and dripping with charm, ready to ensnare.

"Please, have a seat," your father gestured, a servant already there to sit the king at the opposite head of the table. The rest of your family and you followed.
