I had recruited Stiles to help me rescue Derek. In the early morning, Stiles and I sneak up on Kate's SUV. Stiles used a key he stole from Allison who had been using Kate's car ever since the night at the school. Since they were both involved in Derek's disappearance, I thought it was a given that this was the car that they were using to get around in.

I slide into the driver's seat of the car while Stiles is making sure that we're not seen. This is a really nice car - a rental car at that. And new rental cars have a GPS system so that when said cars were damaged or gone missing, then the company can easily locate the vehicles using the GPS system.

"Here." Stiles murmurs, sliding the car key into my hand.

I turn on the engine as quietly as I possibly could. The car is parked on the far entrance of the driveway, but I wouldn't put it past the hunters to be prepared for anything. Even if that meant prepared to catch us in their cars.

Before checking the GPS system, I turn the volume on the car on mute. That was a given, if I forgot then the entire house could probably hear what we were doing here. Stiles is the one who operates the GPS system, as I have no idea how to.

The closest I've been to a car this nice is a taxi where I went to school and was too drunk to drive home myself. My car doesn't have a GPS system, I use paper maps or a map on my phone if I don't know where I'm driving.

"There's nothing here." Stiles says, staring at a blank screen.

I sit up and study the screen, "What?! There has to be something." I peer at the screen, but he was right, nothing was here.

A light turns on in the house. "Mia, we have to go." Stiles whispers, sounding hurried.

"This can't be it, Stiles." I whirl my head around to face him, "I have to find Derek. You don't know what that psycho bitch is doing to him!"

"We have to go now!" Stiles raises his voice slightly. "Or else we'll be right where Derek is, but not in the way you want."

I hesitate. Then turn off the engine before ripping the key out of the car. I hurry to get out of the car as the front door of the house opens and Chris Argent steps out, holding a gun. Christ, these hunters really want to get a shot out, don't they?

Stiles and I hide behind the tires of the car, so that he doesn't see our feet. As we do, I reach down and slowly twisted the air cap on the tire off so that the tire would be bad the next morning. That way, I'd know if they needed to get to Derek and didn't have a car. Public transportation sucks in Beacon Hills.

Even if they would borrow another car, it would delay them for a while so that Stiles and I could further search for Derek's whereabouts. I bolt for Stiles's jeep, which is a bit down the street from the house, so that the hunters wouldn't recognize it.

Stiles is right behind me, keys in hand as he lunges into the driver's seat and starts the car. I get into the passenger seat, slamming the door shut as I don't bother to buckle in until I know we're in the clear. The tires on the jeep squeal as Stiles takes off down the street, I've never seen him drive this fast before, and honestly, it's a bit scary.
