I wake up with the worst throbbing headache of the week, and I wake up hungover everyday. I slowly sit up in bed reaching for a glass of water, chugging it whole. I check the clock on my bedside dresser 11am. I lay back down on my back recalling last night and I can't help but physically cringe half the time. I hear a soft snore next to me and I snap my head my left. Holy shit I forgot about Coriolanus. He's in my bed. Did we?

Oh my god Coriolanus. He's basically bald. But my god does it look good on him. I relax and close my eyes seeing if I can get a little bit more sleep. I hear Coriolanus take a deep breath and then starts to stir. I freeze staying on my back with my eyes open. God this is going to be so awkward. He stretches his limbs out with a groan and turns towards me. I can feel his blue eyes staring at me, yet he doesn't say a word.

I finally turn towards him, laying on my side, "Hi," I whisper.

"Good morning," He smiles back softly. My heart melts as I take in his features. He looks so much older and I don't know if its from his hair or the ware and tear of being away.

"You look different," I finally say slowly reaching out to touch his face like he's going to bite my hand off if I move too quickly. My hand softly touches his hair connecting with the sharpness of the cut, he stiffens.

"So do you," He watches me carefully looking hurt. My chest tightens and I retreat my hand. Not much time has passed for me to age, so I'm unsure if it just what I've put my body through these couple of months, or if he's just saying that.

"I can't believe you're home. I'm sure Tigris will be happy to see you," I look down at his bare chest peeking out from the covers. He has gained quite a bit of muscle these past months, I can tell.

"What happened between you two?" He asks, eyes locked on mine.

"I started getting involved with the wrong partiers and I got a promotion at our sister building, so I never saw her at work and she never wanted to hang out with the people I did. So we just stopped talking," I shrug. "I started substance abusing shortly after you left. It was inevitable with my lifestyle, the question was just when was I going to break."

"I'm sorry," He whispers. "The first couple of weeks I was away I debated killing myself from the dullness surrounding me. Being in the military wasn't for me, that's for sure. I missed my loved ones and when Tigris told me about our home, it was the breaking point. But then Se-" He stops, his mouth pulled in a line. I study his face as his brows draw together and he bites his bottom lip, eyes down. He breathes in through his nose producing a wet nasally sound. His eye slowly look back to mine, water welling in them.

I sit up taking his face in my hands, "What is it?" I ask, stroking his cheek.

"Sejanus came to district 12, got involved with rebels and was," He cries out his body shaking, "Hung. They hung him Des."

I gasp, reeling back, "How'd they find out?"

"I don't know," he says between deep breaths. "So many things went wrong while I was there Mercedes. I couldn't wait to come home."

"What happened to Lucy Gray?" I ask before thinking. Do I really want to know?

"She ran away I guess," His eye harden. "Saw her perform one night, she was gone the next. There was a rumor she killed the Mayors daughter fighting for a boy."

"Wow. stupid girl," I shake my head wiping his tears away.

"Why Ambrose?" He asks looking at the ceiling. "I thought you were done with him."

"Coriolanus I know. He came in one night from downstairs and I-" I pause trying to find the right thing to say. I rest my hands on his chest. "I was hurting and so was he. Talking about his brother and how much of a failure he is. That's how it always starts with him. I didn't think I was ever going to see you again or that it was going to take 20 years, so I took a chance."

"I understand," His jaw ticks.

"A stupid chance, and he was worse than the first time. I didn't want sex and he'd hit me. I'd kiss a costumer and he'd kick me. It was all a performance, Coriolanus. I'm trying to support myself and get my own place. You have to give the people what they want a little bit. He never understood and it filled him with so much hate," I shake my head. "I'm pathetic. Basically throwing away my dream job because of him. His drinking and drug problems reflected on to me so we could both be numb together. Alcohol and this finish it off with the powder to end on a good note. Cancels each other out."

He shifts pushing my onto my back stroking my face the same way I was to him, "I'm here now. I promised you then, I'm promising you now. If you'll have me Mercedes. You're too much of a perfect fit to let you go."

"Because we're both so damaged?" I roll my eyes, tears threatening to blur my vision.

"I just think we better each other," He shrugs, eye jumping from my eyes to my mouth.

"I think that could be true," a smile tugs at my lips. "Just don't go running off on me again for a girl,"

"It wasn't my choice and it wasn't about her," His eyes dart away. "I was trying to do anything to win that money for my family."

"Will you kiss me Coriolanus Snow?" I surprise myself by asking. His face softens above me and I can feel the air from the exhale he releases.

"I've waited a few months to hear that," He slowly leans forward stopping every few inches to make sure I'm sure. Finally I flex my neck forward closing the gap.

It's the sweet, loving kiss I missed from my favorite pretty boy.
