Kaneko proudly took in-game notes to review later with the team, just as she was supposed to. She glanced to the other side of court at Karasuno and Shinzen high's game. But with her mind thinking of so many things, she didn't notice the ball that came hurling at her. "Hey! Watch out!-" Someone yelled out for her.
Her eyes widened as it got closer, but she just closed her eyes shut and hid her scrunched up face behind her shoulder, turning away and bracing herself for the hit that never came. When she opened her eyes slowly, she was met with the lean, muscular chest and dark blue eyes of the setter she was eyeing before.
"...oh." was the only thing she was able to mutter, he was pretty close.
His alert widened eyes gazed deeply into hers before he gulped and blinked, relaxing his tense body and letting out a breath of relief.
"Are you alright?" He mumbled quietly and softly, pursing his lips and taking a few steps backwards to have respectful distance between the two.
Kaneko nodded frantically and exhaled. "Thought I was gonna get hit..." She shook away her thoughts before smiling at him, "Thank you." He nodded once firmly and told her to be careful before he turned his head and subtly glared at a boy from his team, throwing the ball to him as he caught it with ease.
