Two months had passed since Willy Wonka showed up at the city.
Two months had passed since the day Charlotte Fickelgruber had met the clever magic man.
She wondered what would have happened if she didn't accidentally run into him that one day at the Galeries.
Maybe none of this would have ever happened...?
Maybe she never would have helped him sell his chocolates. She might have never been able to help Noodle to teach him to read. And she might have never became his apprentice and best friend.
She would have just been a bystander.
She might have even been like her father.
She shivered at that thought.
She was definitely glad she ran into him that day...
It had been two months since Charlotte's life changed in the most unexpected way possible.
She had met so many people along the way. Willy, the Wash House gang, the peculiar Oompa Loompa.
She wouldn't have traded it for the world.
So now, she was standing outside the new and fully built factory.
She couldn't believe it. They had really done it. His factory was finally complete and this time there was no Chocolate Cartel to ruin it.
She looked up at the glowing orange letters that rested atop the not-so-ruined castle and smiled happily.
That's when she felt a pair of arms wrap around her shoulders and hug her from behind.
"Charlieeeee," Willy's voice said, laying his chin over her shoulder.
"Willy!" She let out a small giggle and reached up to rub the side of his face. "Don't scare me like that."
He chuckled and kissed her cheek. "How're we feeling about this?"
She smiled softly and replied, "I can't wait to open up to the public. I have a good feeling about this factory."
He hummed in agreement. "I agree. There's no Chocolate Cartel to ruin our plans anymore."
She nodded. "Yep. That's right."
"Let's go back inside, shall we?" He nuzzled her closer. He had become quite the clingy thing lately. "I've just had this great idea for an improved version of my Hoverchoc- this one letting you control where you're flying!"
"That sounds lovely, Willy," she replied, her smile not wavering. She had grown used to him talking about new ideas for chocolate and ways to improve his current ones. Sometimes she even proposed some ideas of her own to him.
And what do you know?
They had even made a chocolate that made you sleep better at night.
As he pulled away, he bounced his way happily into his factory, an eager expression on his face. The grand opening was tomorrow, so they needed to make sure everything was in order.
And also to make sure that Lofty wasn't eating everything inside, of course.
Speaking of Oompa Loompas, can you believe it? They were going to travel to Loompa-Land in a few weeks to offer the rest of Lofty's tribe a place in the chocolate factory! If they were going to be a huge success, it was going to take a lot more than just the three of them to run everything.
Charlotte stayed outside for a few more moments as Willy skipped back inside, just staring off into the distance.
And for a moment, as she stared up at the sky, she thought she saw a glimpse of her mother, watching over her from above, proud of everything she had done
But the glimpse went away as soon as it came, and Charlotte labeled it as just a figment of her imagination.
So, before she went back inside, the soft smile on her lips only grew in size as she stared up at those big orange letters, thing of what was to come:
