𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟎

"Why don't you carry him out, Hyunjin?" 

Surprise strikes both their faces as if they've seen ghosts, Felix's mouth falls apart and Hyunjin nearly seems offended as if what Hyori has said was not only impossible but an irreparable blow to their egos "What?!" They speak in sync like the universe is making fun of them for calling themselves rivals. Their hands turn toward one another, looking at each other up and down with disgust before they turn back to Hyori and Felix beats Hyunjin at scoffing which riles up the latter "I can do bad by myself, thank you" Felix shakes his head as if trying to fight the monsters inside his head that remind him what it had felt like to be in Hyunjin's arms not a long ago 

Hyunjin rolled his eyes at Felix's words, instantly regretting even being a little kind to him "That is what you deserve" it was mouthed in a whisper toward Felix before he spoke loud and clear so that Hyori could hear him "I have places to be" Is all he says, such contradictory statements coming from both of them when their hands were still interlaced and it makes Hyori smile softly. Hyunjin turns on his heels only then to realize his hand is still latched with Felix's, his eyes widen softly, surprise drips over his face as he snatches his hand back, stepping as far away as he can in a millisecond

Felix is startled by his acts but it doesn't take him long to realize why Hyunjin had done what he had done, his eyes fall to his hand and something rises in her throat, unsure of the feeling he clears it away and tucks his hand on his stomach, licking his lips to avoid feeling humiliation "I can walk on my own" Felix speaks even if there is no need as he shuffles and sits up straight. Hyunjin should be turning and walking away but something is stilling him, like he's in quicksand and Felix is the gravity keeping him still

his back is turned toward the blond but he is peeping at him through his peripheral vision and though he hadn't realized, there's a devil between them in the face of a middle-aged woman who stands with her arms crossed over her stomach and her lips curled into one of the most vicious smiles she could have conquered, watching their ambivalence silently. Felix sighs, Hyunjin's eyes fall shut and he brings himself back to reality, reminding his mind to send out the signals that'll make his feet move 

opening his eyes, a soft exhale of breath surrounds his ears for small seconds as he braces his feet to move forward, but when he does so, Felix is simultaneously standing up---or at least attempting to, only to wince loudly and fall back on the soft mattress, eyes squinted and jaw clenched as he did his best to hide the look of pain on his face but Hyunjin is immediately turning around and he's busted. Had the raven head not been as quick as he was, Hyori would have already been by Felix's side to aid him but she held herself back alongside the smile on her lips 

"Doesn't seem like you can walk on your own, Felix. Let's all not be stubborn, Hyunjin, please help your classmate out and Felix, please accept Hyunjin's help and thank him for doing so" Hyori's tone turns stern when she seats herself down on her chair. Hyunjin remains still, standing two steps away from Felix who has his head hung low like he's lost some war and his fists clenched on his side. Two seconds later, he's looking up, glancing at Hyunjin with hesitance and shame as he nibbles on his bottom lip and tries to mask his embarrassed gleaming eyes with anger, narrowing them but Hyunjin's smart enough to see past the facade 

He wasn't going to help, wasn't considering doing so anyway but now that Felix looked at him so desperately, something inside of his chest flared, that very thing that happens often when he beats Felix in dance practice or any other thing and his hexed lips curl into a fatal smirk. The demeanor of kindness slips away like morning dew from a foggy window as he straightens his back and Felix is no longer looking at someone who had carried him all the way from the dance room to hear but the Ice Prince of JYP High, his archenemy, his sworn nemesis
