With the popularity of Hermitcraft, even following Grian joining the server, he and others outside the server, including Yogscast veteran Martyn Littlewood, would create a new Minecraft SMP known as Third Life, which would lead to a series known as the Life Series. I won't include the entire series' videos here, because it would take up too many pages and chapters, and I want to expand upon my idea even for others to understand.
To explain the series: each player is given only three lives, with thirty hearts, and only two respawns, and all players start this way. Players with three lives are labeled with their usernames in green, and cannot slaughter others unless in self-defense. Players with two lives are labeled with their usernames in yellow. Players with only one life left are labeled with their username in red and are hostile towards the non-reds. Another feature is that Grian and the co-developers of the map implemented a voice chat into the game to ease communication over long distances without needing to be in the same room as the other players irl and to avoid using sites and keeping them open while playing Minecraft.
Players: Bdouble0100, Bigbst4tz2(the final green, later the final yellow), EthosLab, ImpulseSV, InTheLittleWood, GoodTimesWithScar(first yellow-name, later first red name), Grian(winner), RenDog, Skizzleman, Smajor1995, Smallishbeans, Solidarity(first one to run out of lives), TangoTek, and ZombieCleo
The second season is known as Last Life and is the first to include Mumbo Jumbo, a friend of Grian and Tango and one of Minecraft's historically greatest redstone engineers, and LDShadowLady, one of the U.K.'s most-beloved Minecrafters.
This season is different from 3rd Life in several ways, as listed on the wiki:
1. Instead of only having 3 lives, each player gets a random number of lives (between 2 and 6) on their first episode.
2. When a player is on their last life, they have to cut all ties with everyone and become permanently hostile.
3. There are two new commands: /givelife, which allows a player to give one of their lives to another person, and /lives, which tells the player how many lives they currently have.
Several items are blacklisted: bookshelves, enchanting tables(except for the one at spawn), level 5+ enchantments, and helmets of any kind.
Villages are an exception, though aren't on the map. Villager trading is permitted, though requires curing a zombie villager.
This season, a random non-red is selected to be a boogeyman. The server does not reveal who the boogeyman is except to the boogeyman themself. They are hostile and must slaughter a non-red to be cured. If not cured by the end of the session, they get put down to 1 life for the next session.
All players need to sleep in their chosen beds at the same time if they want to skip the nights, reducing the likelihood of sleeping compared to various instances of normal Minecraft, so players would have to combat the hostile mobs day and night.
The changes to the crafting compared to 3rd Life are as follows:
1. TNT crafting now requires 1 gunpowder and 4 paper instead of 5 gunpowder.
2. Name tags are craftable with paper and string.
3. Spore blossoms are craftable with moss and lilacs.
4. Saddles are craftable with three pieces of leather.
5. Enchanting tables and bookshelves cannot be crafted
Returning Players: Bdouble0100, Bigbst4tz2, EthosLab, ImpulseSV, InTheLittleWood(the final yellow), GoodTimesWithScar, Grian(first yellow name), RenDog, Skizzleman, Smajor1995(winner), Smallishbeans(first red name), Solidarity(first one to run out of lives), TangoTek, and ZombieCleo(the final green)
