I was up at the dorm's rooftop staring at the stars that lit up the night sky, feeling dead inside. I couldn't remember how I'd gotten there, heck I was still in my hospital gown, all I knew was that I'd been staring at the stars since forever. It seemed so much easier than thinking about the events that led up to this very moment. Well, being in denial had always been my forte.

Sighing, I slowly made my way to the edge of the roof and leaned against the handrail. And I screamed and screamed and screamed until my voice became hoarse. Why did my mother keep it from me? Why? I was hit by the scent before I even heard the footsteps and suddenly I was bubbling in anger.

"What do you want?" I snapped without turning around.

"What do you think you're doing?" she bit back with a low growl.

And I laughed. It rang loud and clear in the dead night and it made me laugh the more.

"Maybe I should jump. Maybe then I'd wake up from this nightmare." I said with a dry chuckle. It was then I noticed the tears that were streaming down my cheeks.

"What exactly is your problem? What is wrong with you!?" she asked in a fervent tone.

Furious, I turned around and I still couldn't help recoiling from seeing a perfect replica of me. This still didn't feel real, nothing felt real. "You! You are my problem! You, Gray, Calen, and my supposed father!" I screamed at her pulling my hair in frustration.

That got her quiet and I could see a look of understanding pass through her features. No, she didn't understand anything, she just couldn't understand. "Why show up now? Why now?" I whispered, looking straight into her similar silvery white eyes.

"You don't understand, Dad tried to...-"

"He's not my Dad! And you're not my sister! Gray is not my brother and Calen is most definitely not my sister! I have no sister or brother, and I most definitely do not have a father!" I finished breathing hard, staring defiantly at her.

A look of hurt passed through her features and I watched her walk up to me in short, quick strides. She grabbed me harshly by the collar and leaned closer to me just so I could see her glowing eyes. God, she looked exactly like me it was unsettling, the doe eyes, button nose, round cheeks and full lips, exactly the same.

"Do you think it was easy for us, knowing you were out there with-with that woman? I grew up knowing I had a sister, a twin sister but could never meet her. That it was easy for Dad? He tried so hard, so fucking hard, to get you back but she wouldn't let him. And do you know why?" Ellery asked softly, her eyes still blazing.

She continued, not giving me time to respond. "Because then the truth would be out and her reputation would be ruined. And do you know what else would be ruined?"

"The-the company." I whispered in realization. The company could never survive if the whole world found out Mama had other children with a man that was not her husband.

"When her parents, our grandparents, got her engaged to Timothy Blake, she didn't hesitate to abandon Gray and Dad. And Gray was only a baby! You know what I wish for the most? That she didn't come back to Dad and fuck up his life one more time by having us." she finished, tears welling up in her eyes. And that sight broke me inside that I began to sob quietly.

"But why show up now?" I asked again through my tears. "Why didn't you come earlier? Do you know what I've had to go through? I had to wear contacts, I had to dye my hair, I had to look different just to please her. I had to act different just to please her. And still it was never enough for her. I just wanted my own mother to want me, to love me, but there was Heidi who was a perfect replica of her and she received all the love and attention from our parents." I sniffed and looked up at the sky feeling like I could just turn into a star and float up there.
