*Klick!* The door slowly crept open, as a shy girl nervously shuffled into the building. "Welcome Home, Darling!" you stood at the door already awaiting Kobeni's Return. "I-I'm Home, D-Dear", Kobeni looked very pale and scared as she said that. Of course, you knew that expression. It wasn't a very uncommon sight to behold, in fact, she wore that kind of scared expression on her face almost every other day when she came home. That was one of the things you loved about her, after all!

Nonetheless, you just couldn't help being worried about her, even though you've seen it so many times. "What's wrong, Kobeni? Did you see a Devil kill some people again?" "N-No, I mean yes... well k-kinda." Kobeni began fidgeting. She seemed unsure of how to explain her situation. You grabbed her hands and guided her to the couch. "Didn't you Quit the Devil Hunters, for that exact reason? Why would a Devil attack a random Burger joint?" She began to calm down a little.

"No, it's actually much worse than that. The Devil was D-Denji-" "Denji?!" You interrupted her. "Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt you. I was just... surprised. Please, continue" "He was in this monstrous primal form and he killed everyone, my coworkers, my boss, the customers, just everyone. I was so scared" You noticed tears welling up in Kobeni's eyes.

"He screamed that he wanted to eat a burger. I-I wanted to give him one, b-but I tripped and fell. I spilled it all over him. I thought I was gonna die. My boss screamed at me that make another one and serve it to him, but I was scared and nervous and clumsy and stupid, I just fell again. I'm so stupid, how could I trip twice??!?" Her tears evolved into full-blown rivers flowing down her face and she started to hyperventilate.

You grasped her into a tight, but loving hug. "It's okay. Everything is okay. You're safe with me now. I will never let you go if you want that. You can just stay here with me. You don't even have to go to work anymore, I'll just work for us both! So, please stop crying...", even though you tried to comfort her, you just made yourself sadder. Eventually, you ended up crying together with Kobeni.

20 minutes later. Finally, both you and Kobeni slowly stopped crying. It felt really cathartic and connecting to let all of your feelings out together. However, the mood was really screwed up now. "I'm gonna make us tea, what flavor do you want?" "I'll take Green Tea, unsweetened please" "You got it!" You quickly disappeared into the Kitchen.

You poured some filtered water into the kettle and started boiling it. You grabbed two mugs and two tea bags out of the cabinet. Then, you placed the tea bags in the mugs and poured the boiled water over them. About 3 minutes later, the tea was ready. You pulled the tea bags out and squeezed the last drops out of them. Usually, you'd sweeten your tea, but today you felt like you wanted to match Kobeni. Finally, you placed the teas on a tray and brought them back into the living room. "They're ready!" You shot a quick glance up to Kobeni. She looked like she was lost deep in thought.

"Did you really mean what you said?", "Huh, what?" "You said that I don't have to work anymore, that you'd work for us both. Did you really mean that?" "Yeah, of course. I'd do anything for you darling!" Kobeni's face instantly lit up with an amount of happiness you haven't seen in years. "Really? Thank you so, so much!!! I never want to work again after today!" She joyfully grabbed one of the teas you prepared.

"But what about your family? Don't they need money for your brother's university or something?" "Don't worry about them anymore. I won't ever see them again." "What, why?" "Captain Kishibe told them I'm dead." You noticed her face having a slightly devilish grin on it, despite the sad tone she told you this news. "Seems there still is a lot you haven't told me yet" You picked up your tea. Kobeni sighed and continued.

"Yeah, after I screwed up Denji's food twice, he picked it up and ate it anyway. Then, he picked me up and carried me to a dance booth. I think he wanted me to dance there, so I did. I think he watched me the entire time, but I'm not entirely sure because I really had to focus on the dancing and not screwing up again." You couldn't help but chuckle a little at the image of the big, scary Chainsaw Devil quietly watching the small, petite Kobeni dance. "Admittedly I was very afraid at first, but over time it started getting really fun. In the end, I was extremely invested and I even managed to break the high score!"

Kobeni looked really cute explaining her story with such a genuinely happy smile on her face, you thought. "Congratulations, sweetie! You must be awesome at dancing then if you even managed to become number one!" Kobeni couldn't hide the fact that she was blushing, no matter how hard she tried. "Y-Yeah, I guess" She tried to hide her face with her hands. You couldn't handle her cuteness anymore. You pulled her hands away and leaned in to kiss her. She didn't pull away, though she was certainly surprised by your sudden brashness. "W-W-W-What was that for?" Kobeni's blush increased tenfold in intensity, her face looking redder by the second" "You look really cute when you blush."

A few minutes later Kobeni calmed down enough to finish her story. "Sometime later Makima appeared. I thought she was on our side, but she attacked Denji. When she realized that she couldn't hurt him, she resorted to attacking me... But Denji protected me! I don't know why, he was still in his unresponsive brute state. I guess he just reacted instinctively. A lot of stuff happened but in the end, Captain Kishibe saved us and took us to a safe house, where Makima couldn't find us.

He told me there that I wasn't allowed to contact anyone, so I couldn't even call you even though I really wanted to!" "I was wondering why you didn't come home, darling. But I know that you can fight. I knew you would always make it back." "Thank you, dear. You're too sweet, I don't deserve you..." "Don't say that, Kobeni! You're strong and beautiful. Be proud of that" You gave her a short kiss on the lips, to not overwhelm her again. "Stop that already! You're making me blush again..." Kobeni began to pout. "Sorry, Sorry, that was the last time, I swear!"

She sighed again and continued. "Later I heard that Denji killed and ate Makima, to kill her for good. That meant I was finally free again, but I didn't want to go back to my family again, since they always treated me like garbage and only ever cared about my brother. So Captain Kishibe came up with the idea to tell them that I'm dead. I just wanted to come back to you. Here at your side, is the only place I belong."

"Awww that's so sweet of you. That's why I love you, Darling!" "L-Love?!? Well, I guess I love you too" Kobeni desperately tried to mask her clearly flustered state with a nervous chuckle, but you saw right through that. "Come, I'll prepare a nice, relaxing bubble bath for us" "Y-You mean for both of us together? Isn't that a little... lewd?" "Of course, it's a little bit lewd, but it's also really relaxing I promise" "I didn't say I was against lewd things if it's with you..." Kobeni tried to whisper that part, but you heard it clearly. "Okay, let's have a lewd bath then!" You shouted smugly.

"Ehhhhhh?!?" Kobeni already regretted having said that last part out loud...
