A full week had passed since Renjun last stepped foot in a rink. Part of him knew that others used that space as well since it would be concerning if a well-kept rink was completely unoccupied. Apparently he was able to skate there whenever he wanted since it wasn't a place figure skaters practiced at and therefore no one would know how bad he now was but it never crossed his mind that hockey players could potentially practice there.
Renjun doesn't have anything against hockey players, in fact under different circumstances he might've done a cute little triple salchow to show off and be the star of the show. The center of attention, the figure skater everyone admires even if they hate him, but things are different now. Now he couldn't even skate.
He needed to start working on his jumps if he planned on ever stepping foot on a podium again. Renjun was still able to do a few on the ground, but that didn't mean that it would translate well on the ice nor that he would be able to land them during his program, a program that currently consists of him standing outside of the rink for an eternity.
Unfortunately, today he had arrived late so all he could do was watch from afar as the hockey players trained. Although Renjun didn't have anything against hockey players, it didn't mean that he was fond nor that he understood the sport. Hockey never caught his attention and now he was looking at a bunch of men hit hockey pucks with all their strength. Getting hit by one of those could probably knock him out and therefore he wouldn't have to skate so perhaps being here wasn't such a bad thing. Maybe he could ask that Jaemin guy to knock him out with a puck.
The Jaemin guy was thankfully nowhere to be seen, or so he believed until he felt a hand on his shoulder and he heard the same voice from last week.
"Yo! I was starting to think that I'd never see you again!" The hockey player exclaimed. "Are you waiting for us to finish? If you are, they're going to finish late. Like nighttime late. I'm about to go eat. Do you want to join? I'm only going with a friend, he won't mind if you join us. I actually think you two would get along so well!"
Silence consumed them for a couple seconds. Jaemin had rambled so much that Renjun now had to make sure he had actually finished. It's a miracle he didn't immediately space out at the sound of his voice.
He wanted to reject the offer. He was going to reject the offer, and simply walk away but he made a grave mistake. He looked Jaemin in the eyes.
There was this kindness to them that was emphasized by his long eyelashes. His eyes were quite big and had a slight downwards curvature on the end. He had pretty eyes, the type of eyes that glow and sparkle. The type of eyes poets would say make the stars jealous. The type of eyes that make you say yes even though you want to scream no.
"Where should I wait for you?" Jaemin's face immediately lit up as a big smile plastered itself onto his face. Even his smile was kind of cute.
"You can wait for us at the couches near the entrance! We won't take too long I promise!" And with that, Jaemin jogged away to where Renjun can easily predict is the locker rooms.
Renjun was wearing what he'd usually wear while training, which consisted of a pair of fitted black pants that were perhaps a little too tight for the average male to wear, an undershirt, and a simple fleece jacket. It was nothing extraordinary since it was his practice clothes and he felt comfortable going out and about in them. It was summer in South Korea and he was probably going to regret wearing attire that's meant to keep him warm but he'd survive. He's already somewhat survived being a competitive figure skater.
His waiting time felt rather short and as he spent his time avoiding the glances of the curious athletes that were walking by. Jaemin was surprised to see him there so it's likely that nobody knows that he's here so they're all probably wondering who the random guy borderline stalking them is.
