Chapter 13

From the past week, Ridhaan's behaviour was puzzling Anu.

As always he was caring and funny but something had changed which Anu just could not pinpoint.

More importantly, she was not able to decipher that look in his eyes.

Today also, Ridhaan was more excited than Anu to go for their school reunion.

The venue was one hour away and as Ridhaan was driving, Anu couldn't resist staring at his face which was glowing.

" Anu...I know I am handsome but I will feel shy if you continue looking at me like that"

Ridhaan's teasing brought Anu out of her thoughts and as soon as his words registered, she turned bright red with embarrassment.

She tried to steal her eyes away from his strong gaze but Ridhaan was not having nothing of the sorts.

With a mischievous smile lurking at the corner of his lips, he leaned towards her.

" By the way, I don't mind after all I am all yours"

The voice, low and husky send shivers down Anu's spine but before she could ponder more on her reaction, she was distracted by his words.

"What! Yours....? What do you mean?"

Suddenly, realising his folly, Ridhaan tried to fumble himself out of the situation.

" I..mean.... I am...your..bes...test friend....so you... have all the right...right?"

" Right" she agreed but Ridhaan noticed the suspicious look on her face as he tried to cover his nervousness with a smile.

" Now keep your eyes on the road. I would prefer a reunion with my friends rather than someone else" Anu said sarcastically

Like a good boy , he nodded and turned his attention onto the road ignoring the look Anu was giving him time to time.

"Ridhaan Beta...What were you thinking? If you are not careful, tumhare pyaar udne se pehle hi udd jayega ....Control.... Slow and steady wins the race...." Ridhaan murmered to himself,trying to calm his racing heart.

"Oh... hello...Slow.... It's already over 10 years... Aur Kitna slow chaloge?"

Ridhaan looked around perplexed on hearing an unknown voice.

" What happened?"

He turned to Anu on her question

"Noth..ing..." he replied absentmindedly

" Are you sure?" Anu asked again seeing Ridhaan lost.

He nodded in agreement, with a big smile to calm the apprehension on her face.

But inside he was still baffled by the voice.

" Oye...don't look outside....Look within.... I am your inner voice...idiot"

Ridhaan bristled at the insult.

"Don't look so offended...The term suits you fine....... I have been screaming at you about Anu for the past 10 years but you....Have you ever listen to me? Instead always shut me up with your best friend rant and now when finally jab batti jal gaye tho, please confess and woo her as soon as possible, if you dont want to waste another 10 years."

Though Ridhaan hated the tone of his conscience, he couldn't deny the truth in them.

He had indeed wasted the best part of his years, not identifying what his heart was saying to the logical rambling of his brain.
