" Mamma.... Ha...ha...Stop Mamma....ha...ha....Plea..se Mam...ma...ha..ha..."
Ridhaan looked on as Raunak's laugher filled the air. Anu was smiling wholeheartedly as she tickled him to tears.
The smile which reminded him a lot of his old Anu.
The words of Priyank were still creating a havoc in his heart. A constant struggle was going on between his heart and mind.
He was sitting on the terrace and staring at the beautiful view below even though his mind was a mess.
But he jerked out of his thoughts as soon as he felt a hand on his shoulder.
" Ma..."
" Ridhaan, why are you sitting here alone?"
Though she had a fair idea of what he was going through, courtesy of Priyank. She didnt let it show.
" You know the reason, Ma...." Ridhaan turned away being a little miffed at his mother for the elaborate charade.
"Awww....my baby is angry with me?" Priya couldn't resist teasing.
Ridhaan rolled his eyes at his mother's childishness but preferred to remain silent.
Suddenly, their attention was diverted by her melodious laughter.
Ridhaan's lips automatically curved into a smile. But he schooled his face as soon as he noticed his mother's penetrative gaze.
Releasing a deep sigh, Priya sat beside Ridhaan but he didn't dare to look back at his mother.
After taking his hand in hers, she made sure she had his full attention before speaking.
"I don't regret what I did, Ridhaan. It was a necessary evil to wake you up from your slumber. If I was wrong , then you would not have reacted the way you did.....For years, you insisted you are just friends but Ridhaan, it is evident to all around you that it goes beyond that simple word.....Why do you think Bhabhi was so set against your friendship with Anu? She believed you to be a threat to Anu and Aman's relationship....if ever there was one..." Priya muttered the last statement in disgust.
"But Ma...Anu....I dont know....I..."
Ridhaan was not able to put his heart's thoughts into words but Priya was his mother who could read him like a book
"You know, Ridhaan.... what is your best feature?....your eyes...."
Ridhaan was completely baffled by this sudden change in topic but Priya ignored his perplexed look as she continued.
" They are the mirrors to your soul. They speak the language which your mouth fail to utter....."
Then she turned him to face her. Looking deep into his eyes, she spoke confidently
" You have been IN love with your Anu your whole life....There is no such memory in your life in which Anu was not part of. Your whole existence revolves around her, Ridhaan. She holds a big place in your heart and life and so does you in hers..... "
Priya could see the turmoil her son is going through. With a determined sigh, she put the final nail.
"Just answer one question. Whom do you see with you in 10 years?"
" An..."
It was a knee jerk reaction.
Ridhaan stared at Priya wide eyed as slowly the truth got him in it's tight grip.
With a pat on his shoulder, Priya left him to his brooding with a smile.
Her son will be okay....He is ready to face the reality of his life.
Ridhaan was bowled over by this startling discovery. He looked down at the mother son duo and a lone tear made it's way down.
This was HIS FAMILY.....They were his as he was their's.
The past became a beautiful music that echoed in his heart and soul , finally bringing him the peace he had been craving for the past 10 years.
With his heart and mind in sync,, he accepted wholeheartedly the song his heart was humming....letting it wash over his whole soul....
YES.....RIDHU LOVES HIS ANU......
YES.....HE IS IN LOVE WITH HIS GUIDING STAR....
Note
I know it is short but it was the requirement of the moment....Ridhaan's realization
