January 18th (Student Election Day)

A startling and deafening noise woke me up from my peaceful slumber.

"What in the world..." I mumbled irritably. Yes, I'm not a morning person. Deal with it.

I stretched my arms and yawned loudly, still quite annoyed by the person, or thing, that arose me from my glorious dormancy.

After my eyes finally regained its vision, it started scanning over the pathetically messy room, searching for the thing that I loved most in this world; my precious little phone. After a few seconds, when my gray orbs finally spotted it on the armchair, a smile lit up on my face. I then reluctantly got out of bed, made my way towards the recliner, and reached for the phone. I was just about to turned it on when something caught my eye. It was a bright red circle drawn on one of the dates in the calendar.

I shrugged and casually walked toward it instead. I glanced quickly at today's date.

January 18th....holy mother of earth, today is the day!

I pretended to scratched my chin thoughtfully, still completely unaware of the time. Hmm...I guess I was just so stressed out about everything that I momentarily forgot about it.

After a few minutes of reflective thinking, I finally turned my phone on and gasped.

What the hell?? It's already 7:40?" I yelled indignantly, while rushing to the bathroom as quickly as I could with my phone in hand.

After a very quick shower, I hurried to the closet, looking for the special outfit that I planned for this especially special day.

After changing, I looked at myself in the mirror and smiled a satisfactory smile. For the sake of the Election, I decided to wear a plain white t-shirt under a navy blue blazer, completed with a pair of medium-washed jeans and some black flats. (Don't judge me; I'm not exactly a fashion expert, if you know what I mean)

A buzz from my phone interrupted me from my ah, slightly narcissistic thoughts.

"Huh? Who would call this early in the morning?" I wondered out loud. My question got answered as a picture of a duck-face Hailee popped up on the screen of my phone.

"Hello? Hailee why are you-" Before I could ask my question, she cut me off with a loud screech.

"EMILY GRACE COVINGTON! Get your ass to school right this instant! The bell is going to ring in approximately 5 minutes and being late will not make you favorable for the student election today!" She yelled loudly.

I cringed and rubbed my ear softly. "Jeez, what are you? My mother?" I mumbled sarcastically.

"Chill out Hails. I am very aware of the fact that I'm going to be late, but don't worry, I have study halls first period today since it's a Thursday. Mrs. Roberts won't care as long as I don't disturb her from her....strange addiction." I continued nonchalantly. (Mrs. Roberts had a serious problem when it comes to reading romance books. I heard she read it day after day and night after night and never got bored of them.)

"Fine...I'll see you at the election after school then. But remember to bring your president speech, or else all of my hard work would go to waste." She said dramatically before hanging up.

I rolled my eyes. Hailee is such a drama queen. But nevertheless, I grabbed the speech off my desk and headed to school, with a bright smile plastered on my face.

The whole morning at school I was a nervous wreck. I kept zoning out when the teachers asked me a question or when people tried to talk to me. I didn't know why I was so tense; probably about the election, 3 hours from now. I had to admit, I was a bit scared. I got everything to lose if I lost while Stacy got herself in a win-win situation. To me, the circumstances weren't fair at all, but I suppose life's not fair.
