I make it the Red River around 3am, the same place where we went camping this weekend. I know what you're thinking, Karissa don't be dumb dumping your dead husband in the river that you camp at. I thought of the same thing, but it is the largest/deepest river in this part of our state, so I don't have any other choice. I get out of the truck and look around for any signs of life, when I feel the coast is clear I get to work. I take the corpse to the river's edge taking 3 of the heaviest rocks I can find I tie them to the corpse with the rope I found in the pickup's toolbox. I sit my buttock on the ground using all my leg strength I push the body into the river watching it sink to the bottom. I slip back behind the wheel wiping the sweat off my brow I begin the hour journey back home.

Mark and I met in high school, he never noticed me at first but I always thought he was cute. I was always kind of a nerd, I participated in drama club, chess club or you could find me in the library with my nose buried in a book. He played all the sports track, basketball, baseball you name it he participated in it. Our paths never really crossed until we got assigned to work on a project together in 11th grade. We started spending more time together, he was a sweet, happy, loving guy and we ended up falling in love. We denied our feelings for awhile but continued to spend time together after the project was over and ended up dating the rest of high school. We split ways after graduation but we ended up at the same party a year later. We hooked up and I found out a month later I was pregnant with Jack.

After parking the pick up in Mark's normal spot at the very end of our drive way behind our house I drag my aching limbs to the master bedroom kick my shoes off and fall fast asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow.
