I woke up the next day feeling so tired. I lifted my arm, that was slung across my eyes, and turned towards the walk clock. It showed 5AM. Groaning, i pushed myself up and somehow managed to get out of bed. I saw Sahara cursing as she got out of bed. All the other girls, threw their blankets to the side and managed to get out of bed too. Slowly i headed to the bathroom, walking groggily. As i approached the sink, i remembered that i had forget my toothbrush. Mentally slapping myself, I turned back and headed to my assigned cupboard at the other end of the room.
I grabbed my toothbrush and rubbed the sleep out of my eyes. I really hated waking up early. I got to the sink and brushed my teeth and then continued to wash my face. I changed into my P.E uniform and met Sahara on her bed, tying her shoelaces. I sat on my bed and faced her and started to tie my shoelaces.
"I'm literally considering getting a fake doctor's note to get me out of this running thing" She said. I looked at her and gave a small smile.
"Fucks for reals. Maybe i'll show the Warden my Asthma prescription. Think she'll let me go?" I ask while tying my left shoelace.
" You know what, i think they may actually. I'll ask my family doctor for a fake note too. Thanks B"
I shake my head. I get up and go back to my cupboard to fetch the doctor's note and make my way to the Warden's room. I knock three times and she opens it. She's dressed in a nightgown that's purple. She looks me up and down and then asks me what i want. I show her the doctor's letter. She examines it carefully.
" Okay, you're exempted for today. I'll have the head office go over your medical records to see for how long you are exempted." She took the letter and shut the door on my face. Rude. I go back to the dorms and meet Salome on the way.
" How come you aren't ready yet?" She asks raising one eyebrow. "I got exempted for today due to my asthma" I reply.
" Lucky girl, but are you coming downstairs?"
" Yeah why not, i'm already awake." I walk with her to the stairs and make my way downstairs. The moment we exit the door, a gush of cold air hits my face. I pull up the hoodie and cross my arms around myself, tightening them. We go around the boarding house and walk to the running track. Salome smiles at me and starts jogging. I go over and sit on the huge steps. I look over and see Sahara jogging with Shaila and Myriam. Salome jogs over to Christian and both of them start jogging together. Ain, Dietrich, Isaac are all jogging too, well running actually considering their long strides. The rest of the guys were lounging near the clock tower and supporting themselves on the railings, smoking. I looked up and saw that the sky was still dark. My body shuddered a bit. I'm lost in my thoughts when a guy walks over to me.
"Hey, Brooklyn right?" He says. He's kinda tall with blonde hair and brown eyes. I look up at and him and respond "yeah". He sits down next to me on the big step.
" I saw you in class yesterday. We have Bio together." He said, rubbing his hands to keep them warm.
" Oh yeah, i remember you." I really did not.
"I'm Kevin by the way" He puts out his hand for me to shake it. I shake his hand." Nice to meet you" I say." So how come you aren't running?" He asks
" I've got Asthma" I shrug
" Oh damn, must be hard."" yeah i guess" I reply
Awkward silence follows. He clears his throat and i clear mine. " So say would you like to grab breakfast with me and a few of my friends?" He asks politely. I feel like a deer caught in headlights. On one hand i really didn't wanna go but on the other this was my chance to make friends and be an extrovert.
