Chapter 5: Friends always have your back

Later that day Sero was lost in thought as he heard a knock on the door and fought against himself wether or not to open the door.

But after a few minutes he opened the door rubbing his eyes "Hey Ser- oh my god Sero what happened..?" Denki asked noticing the still healing cuts in Sero's arms.

Sero looked down at his arms  slightly cringing and shrugging not wanting to explain how the cuts were made or how he forgot to hide them "don't worry about that" he said as he walked inside and put on a flannel making sure the sleeves covered the cuts "Hanta how did that happen?" Denki asked becoming more concerned.

"It's not important Denki, what do you need?" Sero replied as he headed to sit down by denki grabbed his hand "Hanta please tell me those cuts were not made by what I'm thinking..." Denki said looking at Sero in eyes.

"Drop it. I said it was not important" Sero said pulling his hand away from Denki's hold.

"Hanta please talk to me what's going on?? You're cutting yourself aren't you? You're doing that to yourself! Why?"

"Kaminari I said drop it!!" Sero said finally snapping and letting anger take over him "I'm not going to until you tell me! I want to help you!" Denki argued back.

"Help me?? Help me how?! You can't help someone who's life had been a fucking mess from the start!! You can't help an alcoholic and a drug addict! YOU CANT HELP SOMEONE WHO KEEP MESSING EVERYTHING UP!! SO DONT TELL ME YOU WILL HELP ME!!" Sero screamed out to which Denki couldn't help but to pull him into a hug "don't you dare hurt yourself again Hanta. It's not worth it and I know you never liked talking about your past and that's fine, even though I don't know how your life was before I want you to know that I'm here for you...you're my friend and if I can do anything to help I will.."

Sero pulled away from the hug and rubbed his eyes "what do you need?" He asked trying to change the subject.

"I just came to thank you for everything you've done but I think we need to talk about what's been bothering you" denki said as he sat down next to Sero.

"Nothing had been bothering me...please just leave it alone...you wouldn't understand.."

Denki frowned softly "maybe I won't...but neither of us will know that unless you talk to me Hanta...You've helped me so many times...please let me help you now.."

Sero sighed and rubbed his eyes "I liked this guy...but he's already in a relationship...and...Shoto knows about it and he came to help me feel better but we both got drunk and...things headed where they shouldn't been...I fucked up Denki..."

Denki frowned softly and held Sero's hand "I'm guessing that...you were past your limit when you found out the guy was in a relationship..? Some of those cuts look like they were already healing.."

Sero frowned and looked down at his hands nodding a bit "I...my childhood wasn't the best...I always try to prove myself but...watching someone I love be happy with someone else made me realize that...I'll...never be enough"

Denki frowned and pulled him into a hug holding him close "hey don't say that...you're more than enough...you've helped me through so much...remember back at UA how you helped me feel less insecure about my quirk's aftermath..? How you were always there when it caused me pain..? You helped me through so much Hanta you're so much more than enough..."

Sero sighed and shrugged as he leaned on denki letting him hold him. "Why am I just a second option..." he mumbled closing his eyes.

"Because you haven't met the right person yet...and that's fine...when the right person appears you'll be their first option and they'll love you unconditionally" Denki replied moving Sero's hair away from his face frowning softly as he watched the tears forming on Sero's eyes.

"I found the right person...but I'm not the right person for them...they make me feel like I'm worth it but...I can't be with them.." Sero replied sighing softly as he pulled away from Denki's embrace feeling like it was wrong letting him comfort him.

Denki sighed softly "Hanta-" he tried to talk Sero through and show him how wrong he was but Sero cut him off "can we not talk about it anymore? How you been?" He asked forcing a small but believable smile "how does it feels to be married?"

Denki frowned softly but sighed and gave in "It's nice...but Hanta you can't just pretend everything is fine...I really care about you...I want to make sure you're ok..." he said holding Sero's hands again looking at his sleeved arms frowning more knowing what was underneath the sleeves "I'm scared of losing my best friend...so please...if there's anything I can help let me know..."

Sero frowned looking at their intertwined hands tearing up a bit as the emotions he's been trying to lock up started escaping again.

"Please leave..." he mumbled moving his hands away from Denki's and shutting him out "what? Why? Hanta.." Denki tried cupping his face but Sero moved away "p-please...just leave Denki...you wouldn't understand anything...please just go.."

Denki frowned and sighed "promise me that you won't hurt yourself...I won't leave unless I know you'll be safe..."

Sero nodded "I promise.." he mumbled before receiving a nod in response from Denki "alright...I'll see you later...please let me know if I can help with anything ok?"

"I will..." Sero replied, his body tensing up a bit as Denki hugged him.

But just because he left it didn't meant that Denki would leave Sero alone, so instead he texted kirishima asking him for a favor.

Soon Sero heard another knock on the door, kirishima smiled at him as the door was opened "hey man! Sorry I came unexpectedly but I brought some food! Maybe we could party a bit?" Kirishima said.

"Sure come in" Sero replied trying to sound like his normal self, or at least who he is used to pretending to be, someone happy with a perfect life.

But pretending was getting harder every day, Sero started feeling more and more tired, he started to get more weak, and the thoughts on his head were slowly winning the fight, the fight that Sero had been fighting for so long without anyone knowing.
