Soft hues of red and orange filled the dimming sky, slowly being replaced with the white illuminating lights that clung to the posts.
The small sack tossed over your shoulder, ignoring your colonel who followed closely behind. "Listen schatz, this isn't out of spite. I hate this is what it came to, but to insure our factions stayed combined we had to come up with something, ja?" Konigs voice rumbled against the whirring of the base.
Your shoulders straightened as wondering eyes roamed your Kortac uniform. This wasn't something you wanted to say the least. As he said though, it was for the faction. Basically feeling mandatory at this point.
His hand rested reassuringly on your shoulder as you stood in front of the plaque covered door. Incoherent yelling already booming behind it had your nose turning up. Seems like you weren't the only one who wasn't thrilled of the little arrangement.
Ghosts feet paced restlessly against the tile, flicking greying ashes along the marble print while Prices cigar did the same. "The deal was we both provide our best soldier remember? Or were you deaf the whole meeting Simon." Price muttered, refusing to give into Ghosts rage.
"I agreed it should happen not that I'd be drug into this fuckin mess!" Ghost shouted, head tilting to the small shadows shifting behind the door. An irritable grunt pushed from his chest as he flicked the stick to the floor, stomping it with the tip of his boot while pulling his balaclava back into place.
Prices eyes followed his, standing to his feet he tilted his head, releasing a crack and easing the tension that had formed in his shoulders.
Your knuckles rapped the door, bile filling your throat as a rough British accent invited you in. Refusing to give anyone the upper hand your head stayed tilted high, not acknowledging the shadow that leaned in the corner.
Eyes bore into the back of your head when you extended your hand to the man who's name was so neatly placed on the desk. "Captain." You muttered before the calloused hand released yours pulling the cigar from his lips.
Facial hair creasing with approval when your hands clasped behind your back. "Here she is as versprochen." Your colonel announced, drawing your eyes to the audible scoff that escaped the dark corner.
Ghost shifted on his feet standing up right with arms crossed over his chest. His gaze wondering your form before looking back to his captain in disbelief. Eyes raging a war through the storm the brewed in his chest.
"She'll be safe. I'll have her, soon to be husband, escort her to their quarters." Price spoke not missing the way Ghost smirked when your eyes widened. Ghost found a small sliver of satisfaction knowing you didn't want to be here anymore than he did.
"They'll have time to get acquainted before the month ends." Price continued earning ghosts body to stiffen. "I've got the rest of my bloody life to do that thanks to you." He ground out pointing a finger before turning on his heels and leaving the room.
The glass rattled Prices door as he slammed it shut leaving you behind. Your own grin pulled, even if this was for the faction.. they couldn't force it to happen if Ghost refused could they?
"I can find my way around. Thank you captain." A coy smile cornered your lips when you spoke. Konig patted your back with an apologetic look before saluting the captain and finding his own way out.
Price mumbled something under his breath before shuffling through his drawers. Extending a key in your direction, you delicately took it between your fingers. "Incase he's being too stubborn there's an extra room you can stay in. Don't worry he'll warm up. Just takes him time."
Price received a nod in response before you were exiting his office, taking extra care to guide the door shut. No telling how many slams it had left in it before it shattered completely.
Ghost stood motionless leaning against the hall wall, tracking your every move. How would he ever be able to accept the one who was forced on him? Who would rip the little freedom he had left from him.
His eyes narrowed when your own found home searching his rage coated irises, a mocking grin accommodating the malice glinting in your eyes. Your heels turned turning your focus to the key, then he realized you were purposely heading the opposite direction from his room.
