Light peaked through the bathroom into the dimly lit bedroom, Ghosts head reeling from what the hell had just happened. The towel stayed tight around his waist, for a moment he had convinced himself you weren't in the room anymore.
Maybe you weren't real, this was all just some sick twisted dream that was meant to test him. Yet those thoughts ceased, seeing your body sprawled across his bed. Hair a disheveled mess along his pillow and your face, blanket draped along your waist with your knee poking out just enough.
Shaking his head with a small smile he pulled on a fresh pair of boxers on, you weren't supposed to crawl your way under his skin. He wasn't supposed to feel, he swore off those emotions long ago.
That didn't stop him from brushing the small strands from your face as he crawled in beside you. Ghost focused on the small dip in your nose, your lashes so perfectly splayed along your cheeks. He was mesmerized to say the least, so lost in trance he didn't even realize that his fingers were tracing your jaw.
He swallowed hard when your body shifted, curling in close to his side. Allowing his arms to engulf your body as your nose nuzzled into his chest.
For once nightmares didn't plague his dreams, instead your body cascaded through different scenes lulling him into a safe sleep.
Bright light broke through your lids, drawing the blanket close to your face in hopes to drift back to sleep.
Ghost arm tightening around your waist had your senses coming to, suddenly able to feel the steady beat of his heart against your back, the smell of his soap surrounding you, the warmth of his body overpowering yours.
Surely he had just curled next to you out of instinct right? How were you supposed to be content when this whole ordeal had been a raging war of push and pull. It'd be safer to keep defenses up. Keep yourself safe from the hurt you were sure he could inflict if you actually let him in.
That didn't stop your body from melting into him momentarily though. Relishing in the safe comfort of his body wrapped around yours under the sheets. The feeling being that of safety.
Reluctantly you swallowed hard, delicate fingers wrapping around Ghosts wrist and shifting it off your body. Taking your time to glance over your shoulder as you sat up. Usually he wore that hardened mask that was void of any feeling but now he just looked.. calm. It warmed your chest before you physically shook your head trying to rid the feeling.
Ghosts body suddenly felt cold jolting him awake just in time to see the door shut so gently behind your body. A low groan vibrating his body, as he adjusted to how empty the room felt.
Hastily throwing on his cargos he took off out the door, following the trail he knew you took so tediously. Looks like watching your every move had come in handy.
The small voice in his head screamed at him to back off but the anxiety in his chest of not knowing where you had gone or where you'd be ate at him.
He'd already had that happen once. Not again. Not now.
Ghosts steps slowed seeing your nimble fingers work the vending machine as if your life relied on the stuck granola bar inside. He felt like he was approaching a wild animal, steps light as he stepped beside the machine, hands in his pockets like a schoolboy with his first crush.
"You know.. there's better food to cook up rather than getting it out of this rickety thing?" He tilted his head as he spoke, the small pull in his balaclava making your eyes focus on the movement.
Your eyes locked on his causing his shoulders to straighten and his chin tilt up. "Are you suggesting I belong in a kitchen?" You questioned making his laugh echo the hall.
"No," ghosts hand collided with the side of the machine making the bar drop to the bottom. "I can cook if it means you'll eat something more than that rubber." He gestured to the thinly wrapped bar as you pulled it from the box.
Peeling the sides, you took your time biting off a piece. "Mmm, stuffed." Your nose scrunched as you spoke showing a whole new demeanor that he swore he'd never scare off again.
"Smart ass." Ghosts head shook nudging your shoulder in the process. Taking a deep breath he cleared his throat in the process unsure of how to even try and hold his calm demeanor without feeling too overbearing.
Your laugh eased the tension his shoulders, noting you were out of your typical work attire he followed you down the hall. The drifting eyes from other members had his arm wrapping around your waist, feeling the muscles pull taunt under his fingers.
"What're you doing?" You mumbled, taking another bite of your granola bar without looking at him. "I'm bad with words." He admitted in almost a whisper.
Recognition crossed your features before you broke into a laugh making Ghosts brows furrow in the process. "What the hell is so funny?" His fingers pressed his fingers into your waist making your laugh book even louder from the tickle.
"Nothing.." you swatted at his hand trying to make him ease up so you wouldn't lose your footing. "Just trying to gauge how long it's going to take you to hate me again." The corner of your mouth curled as you peered up at him but your smile didn't meet your eyes.
Ghosts stomach churned from the statement. Would he start hating you again? How long would this feeling last? Opening the doors he led you outside.
"What're your plans today?" He asked, trying to hide his inner turmoil. "Gotta prepare. Running low on time." You mumbled, crumbling the wrapper in your hand in the process.
Ghost led you over to his personal car off route from the taskforce provided vehicles that you were heading towards. Slipping his hand in his pocket he handed you the keys, pulling out a black card shortly after.
"I'd rather know you were in something safe." His head turned so he didn't have to watch the confusion cross your eyes. "I'll see you when you get back, yeah?" He continued glancing back at the light hue of pink that had started to coat your cheeks.
Your head nodded but your heart was hammering so hard in your chest you could hardly hear the words coming from his lips.
Gently cupping your cheek he tilted your head to met his gaze. All the commotion that was previously echoing in your brain ceasing. Ghost lips grazed against yours eyes fluttering from the shocks it sent through your body.
Just as quickly as the feeling came it vanished when he pulled away.
"I'll move your stuff while your gone. Just be bloody safe and call me if you need anything. Understand?" He cocked a brow making your eyes roll.
