WOOOOO MOM SCORED!!!!!
---------------

"There's our gal!" Lisa cheered as you sat next to her, Erin, Sam, and Mitch. "How ye' doin', Y/N?"

You smiled. "Alright, ye'?"

"Good. Excited to see ye' wearin' our Scottish Keeper jersey."

"I can't believe yer' mum doesn't know yet," Sam shook her head in awe. "Ye' might wanna call Jen and warn her that Kim might have a heart attack."

"Remind me later," you snickered. "That might actually happen."

"Less talk, more eatin'," Erin chided, smacking you on the back of the head. "Ye' have to play yer' best today 'cause we've gotta see how well ye' work with our backline."

You rolled your eyes. "Fine, fine."

------------------

"This is so dumb!" Martha complained, throwing her hands up in the air as you tipped the ball over the crossbar for the fifth time. "Can we just forfeit? I don't wanna keep shootin' at a brick wall!"

Pedro laughed. "Ten more minutes, Martha. Besides, Y/N's having fun."

You gave a double thumbs up to the camera that was recording training. "Yup!"

"Of course Y/N's havin' fun," Erin grumbled, walking back to the other side of the field. "Her team's winnin' 6-nil."

You stuck out your tongue. "It's not our faults yee' all suck."

Mitch snickered. "Tell 'em, kiddo."

Abi threw up her hands in exasperation. "Ye' haven't even done anythin', Mitch! The gal is carryin' ye'!"

"A win's a win!" the Defender exclaimed. "And ye' know what they say. There's no 'I' in team."

You clapped your hands together. "Ye' know what is in team?"

"What?"

"'Me'."

Abi laughed. "Ha, told ye' so."

----------------------

"—very happy with the way you've all played today," Pedro praised. "I have no doubt that you'll all perform greatly during our matches. Y/N, I'd like to have a chat with you quickly. Everybody else go shower. You all stink."

Erin shoulder-checked the coach indignantly. "It's yer' fault if we smell! Yer' the one who made us run 'round."

He chuckled. "Go on, girls. Y/N, walk with me."

You dutifully followed after him as he began walking around the side of the field. "What's up, boss?"

"I know you've probably heard this a lot already, so I'll keep this short," he said. "Your mother will be proud of you no matter what happens on the pitch. You're worried about letting her down. I can see it in your eyes. You need to relax because everyone can see that she won't care if you lose. Play the game, and enjoy it. Don't spend your career in fear of failure."

You frowned. "But—"

"Ah-ah-ah," Pedro wagged his finger scoldingly. "Do you really want to argue about how much unconditional love your mother has for you?"

You paused. "No."

"That's what I thought. Just remember what I told you on game day, alright?"

"Alright."

He patted you on the shoulder. "Great. Now go, get out of here. I might pass out soon from the overwhelming smell of sweat."

You rolled your eyes. "Ha, ha. Yes, boss."

-----------------

"Why's Y/N not answerin' her phone?" Kim panicked, waving her own in Jen's face. "Is she alright? Talk to me, Jen!"

"Kim, I just talked to Less. They're fine," the Defender assured the captain. "Y/N's just really tired."

"Y/N is never tired," Kim looked suspicious. "What the hell is goin' on?"

"Leah gave her some sleepin' pills or summin' 'cause she was bouncin' of the walls," Jen lied. "Ye' know that the kid doesn't stop."

The Skipper sighed. "If ye' say so."

------------------

"Y/N!" Jen hissed over the phone as you entered your shared room with Erin. "Yer' mum is not buyin' these excuses. I don't know if I can buy ye' another day."

You scoffed. "What d'ye' want me to do? Tell them to move the match to tomorrow?"

"I'm just sayin'!" the older Scot reasoned. "I've done my best, but if she figures it out, it's not my fault."

"Yeah, yeah," you stated. "You've got it, Jen! Have ye' not learned anythin' from me after all these years?"

"I have!" she defended. "I've gotta go though. Yer' mum and the others are gettin' really suspicious. They're gonna think I have a secret girlfriend or summin'."

You laughed. "Right, Jen. Gowan."

"See ya."

Just one more day until your international debut. Hopefully, Jen had the situation under control. Hopefully.
