red thread.09. does the sight of her cause a stirring in your chest?

Foster was awake well before the sun came up, and the first thought in her mind was blood, per usual. She kept her eyes closed, wavering between wanting to indulge the craving or push it away. She didn't feel the need to open them until she felt a weight roll over on her outstretched arm and another arm wrap around her waist. When the grip tightened on her waist, she fluttered her eyes open. And, oh, how she regretted it when she did.
It was strange how someone could look so peaceful, so beautiful when they slept. Like all the chaos from the night before didn't even happen. Foster could've believed that as her eyes flitted over Rebekah's sleeping form. But then the memories came back. Mikael gripping her heart in his cold hand, the blood that got the best of her, coming home to find Rebekah destroyed. Foster glanced down at the body next to her before the memories of changing her clothes came too. The memory of Rebekah lifting the blankets and sliding in because she didn't want to be alone was last.
Foster sat up just the smallest bit, she realized that it was her who wasn't even on the side of the bed she fell asleep on. She lifted the arm from around Rebekah, and pulled her own gingerly from underneath the blonde. Lifting the blankets, Foster carefully slid off the bed, only turning to pull the blankets back up. Shaking her head, the youngest Salvatore walked out of the room.
The stairs creaked when Foster stepped on the weak spots and she winced, hoping her brothers didn't hear. Continuing on her way, her first stop was the kitchen to pour a cup of coffee that flooded her senses as soon as she stepped out of her bedroom.
"Thought I heard you up," Damon greeted when Foster passed by the parlor. She only grunted in response. "So. How was your sleepover with Barbie Klaus?"
"How was sleeping alone, imagining Elena next to you?" Foster shot back.
Damon let out a sarcastic laugh until settling with a glare. "Elena's on her way so we can all talk about the plan, but first, are you sure Rebekah's on our side?" he asked.
Foster poured a mug filled nearly to the brim with coffee and took a sip before turning to her brother. Her mind flashed back to the night before. "Yeah, I think so."

"Alright," Stefan began, leading Elena, Damon, and Foster through the Boarding House, "Let's say he followed Elena. He tried to use her as bait."
"And you, what, vervained him?" Elena asked, doubt in her voice.
"No, we," Damon gestured between himself and his siblings, "Guy's an Original. We have to make it realistic. And with these two," Damon looked between Stefan and Foster, "hopped up on human blood, I'd say it works."
Foster sent him a glare as Stefan spoke, "Okay, fine. We vervained him, and in the process discovered that he had a dagger."
Elena nodded, raising her eyebrows. "Which he planned to use on Rebekah, but instead ‒"
"We drove it through his heart," Foster finished, leaning on one of the arm chairs. Elena glanced at her.
"What happens when he asks to see Mikael's body?" she questioned.
